Tiffany’s belongs to Bangalore’s Old-is –Goldclass of restaurants . Many a times I have sailed past it at night on Vittal Mallya road thinking to myself that it looks like a majestic ship , anchored at port. This is because the building starts from below road level and is also a distance away from the road. Add lighting to this and it resembles a ship. The effect is heightened by the fact that one enters a large terrace resembling a ship’s deck and from there you can go into the main building .

Only reason why I didn’t visit the place earlier was 1. In my student days it was too expensive and 2. It is located at a busy crossroads junction , where you gotta figure out where the hell to park ( Like I said earlier , the building is physically away from the road )

Anyway they are now offering valet parking . Despite being in Bangalore for two and a half decades ,I visited Tiffany’s only recently on one of my monthersaries ( Monthly wedding anniversary – same day different month )

The ambience is discreet without any overt opulence ; a shade too dark for my liking . Coming to the food , Tiffany’s is mainly famous for continental cuisine . We ordered a chicken sizzler and a fried fish with tartare sauce. Meanwhile a little bird kept us company ; that’s kingfisher for you !

The chicken really sizzled , but the accompaniments were a bit sparse when compared to Caesar restaurant’s Chicken Diana . The fried fish was served beautifully . It was shaped like a fish , with a frilly tail formed out of a cabbage leaf. A small onion ring marked the eye . If you want style you definitely get it at Tiffany’s. The service was fair without any overt delay.

After we bid Tata to the Tartare-n-fish , it was time to bid Tata to the moolah . Rs 324/- plus tax doesn’t seem high , but ‘Is too’ if you count quantity . But I spose Quantity was sacrificed to Quality . Another rare phenomenon , they also had a separate service tax . So Tipping is a mandatory luxury !!

Fa.. Sorry , Burrrrp with the Best .

The Sage’s Take :-> Food is a four letter word .
