With so much bias on things American nowadays,it`s very entertaining to find something that removes the urine out of the American way of life, their establishment and their culture. So much more gratifying when it comes from across the Atlantic as well!
The Onion.com is a weekly on-line satirical newspaper that is produced in such a way that I often have to stop and think - this can`t be made up,it has to be true.However ALL the stories and articles are fictitious and the majority of them are hilarious! At first glance it looks like any normal paper would until you start to read. Then you start to laugh and laugh . . . . . ! The humour is biting and incisive. Often very black and outrageously rude. Not politically correct by any means and always going to upset one section or another of the population , be it gays,womens groups,nerds.adolescents or sportsfans.
The standard is consistently high with some marvellous peaks and always inventive! The headlines draw you in to each nugget of mirth e.g. ''New Magazine Launched For Old People To Read As They Wait To Die '' and '' Awkward First Sexual Encounter Worth The Wait Say Newlywed Christian Couple '' There are lots of sections for you to lose yourself in for hours , in fact everything that you would expect of a normal newspaper - news articles, sport, opinion,polls,charts and statistics,reviews of film, T.V., books and music, even a sex columnist ! Of course no self-respecting U.S.paper would be without the mandatory comic-strip and The Onion is no exception.
In it's case , we have Red Meat, a comic strip like no other! It will only take you seconds to either love it or loathe it. If it grips you, you`ll be hooked and forced to consume your weekly dose of ''onion-wit''.It`s infectious as well so others that are introduced to it will get sucked in,if they get a taste for it! Don`t be selfish,give them a dose! The Onion is an ideal antidote for long winter nights ,boring afternoons at the office or to help you survive the aftermath of the mother-in-laws visit! Go there now! Do not pass go!Do not collect £200!
