Do you guys stay up every Sunday night at 10:00p.m (to be accurate), to watch X-FILES on Star World, even though you had watched the very same episode the very same day, just a few hours earlier (the one that is shown at 10 o'clock is just a repeat of the 6:30 p.m. show), when you ought to be tucked up in bed getting your beauty sleep to face yet another hectic Monday morning??? I'm asking you this because that is exactly what I do. Sounds spooky (which is exactly the feeling that you are supposed to get, 'coz its X-FILES remember) doesn't it, especially when you consider the fact that this particular program is supposed to be a thriller filled with suspense and as you probably know thrillers are not supposed to be viewed a second time and even if you were really stupid and jobless enough to watch it again its duty is not to scare you. However X-FILES fails in that category, it really gives you the creeps even when you watch it a second time and mind you on the same day (just so you don’t forget any of the details), the only difference being that the second time you know when the scary parts are about to come and this gives you time enough to close your eyes and ears (so you don’t get scared).

The X-FILES is a thriller series starring the very handsome David Duchovny as a sardonic and always-searching-for-answers-out-of-this-world-freak going by the name of Fox Mulder and his equally pretty and very-down-to-earth partner Dana Scully played by Gillian Anderson. It must be said that the chemistry between these two FBI agents, both in their professional and personal lives has been handled with great finesse. When on duty even though they are always contradicting each other on the facts collected by them in each case, they understand each other perfectly and know when the other is in danger and when help is needed and are very much in sync with one another. It is very interesting, entertaining and informative to watch these two people solve their cases. However, it must also be mentioned that some of the theories are far-fetched and some of the conclusions are totally wrong which makes one wonder why the director and the writer have not done their homework in collecting correct information , one might argue on this point by saying that the series is purely fictional, yet mistakes such as saying that the powder-like substance given in the Hindu temples in India, namely the “vibudhi”, has no organic or inorganic substance in it, when in truth it is nothing but ash is utterly upardonable.

However, on the whole it’s a viewer’s pleasure to watch something extraordinary and this series does not fall short of one’s expectations, which is more than I can say for all the other innumerable ghost and vampire stories that are being telecast on the same channel.
