The Spare Kitchen is one of the most impressive places today in not only Juhu but Bombay in general. A place which is a cross between a fine dining restaurant and a casual dining place. A place where you can go on a romantic date or with friends for a catching up session. This place serves some of the best food one can enjoy and that also in the most beautiful way!
The ambience is very elegant and thought over. The place is actually huge. With a seating capacity of around 150 people they have cleverly managed the huge space and created different sections which can appeal to different sets of people. There is space for family dinners, there is a space for friends catching up for drinks or for a romantic couple. The decor looks rich and builds a terrific mood. There are classy paintings all over the place. The music is also simply right!
When you ask for the menu you get an iPad which contains the menu in which you can also order. The iPad gives a good description of the dishes and also shows some amazing pictures which will make you tempt to order. Great use of technology! There are a wide variety in terms of cuisine offered but limited items to choose from in every cuisine. I like this way as many options makes it difficult for one to order.
As we were a large group of around 8 people we got an opportunity to try various dishes. We ordered Chowpatty on Platter (Rs 275), Wok Tossed Chilly Garlic Chicken (Rs 345), Jalapeno Cheese Poppers (Rs 225), Zatar Chicken (Rs 395), Prawns Olek (Rs 545), Chicken Masaledar (Rs 450), Kali Mirch Mutton (Rs 525), Mexican Spiked Chicken (Rs 325), Peri peri roasted Chicken (Rs 395), Grilled Filet Mignon (Rs 575) and Chettinad Prawns Rice (Rs 425).
In general I found the food to be very good. The meat was properly cooked and the ingredients were rightly balanced. The quantity also decent. However the starters were ordinary and the main course items were truly terrific. Also the quantity of main course dishes is very generous and every dish can be easily shared between two people.
Chowpatty on Platter is very unique and innovative dish. You get pav bhaji, bhel, pani puri and shev puri together in one platter. This is a highly recommended dish. It looks beautiful and tastes lovely! A big thumbs up to the management for this dish.
Kali Mirch mutton was truly exceptional. The gravy was scrumptious and the mutton pieces were truly tender. They just melted at the tip of your tongue.
Chettinad Prawns rice was very authentic Andhra stuff! The beef was also very well cooked and soft.
The highlight of the place is truly the presentation of food. They artistically design your platter and thus make food even more enjoyable. Just have a look at the pictures I have added to appreciate the art on display. I would surely add 1 extra rating just for the presentation! Great stuff!
The pricing is comparable to any competitive restaurant. A per person expenditure of around 1000 Rs can be expected for only dinner. Might seem to be on a little higher side but the satisfaction that one receives makes it a good bargain.
All in all a very satisfying experience. We were truly happy to make the decision to visit this place. I am sure I am going to get many more opportunities to enjoy the place! Really looking forward towards my next visit!
