I have seen first Hollywood movie with my friends when I was in 6th standard and the movie was 'Universal Soldiers' starring Hollywood superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme. I remembered that movie because the movie was dubbed in Hindi and I liked the action very much.

Then came super duper hit 'Jurassic Park' which was liked by all age groups. From there I had started searching for good Hollywood movies and I got to see many superhits from Hollywood, Arnold's 'Terminator' was one of my favorite movie and I came to know another Hollywood superstar. Then I watched Bruce Willis starrer 'Armagedon' and'The Fifth element', both of the movies were excellent, action packed and mainly based on science fiction and I came to know Bruce Willis. I was used to watch many Hollywood movies with my friends on video tapes and sometimes in cinema halls.

Then I came across another Hollywood movie named - The Sixth Sense starring Bruce Willis and directed by an Indian origin director Manoj Night Shyamalan. I have seen some Hollywood movies with Indian actors but never watched any Hollywood movie directed by an Indian director. I was keen to watch the movie after getting good reviews from some friends ans watched the movie in 2000. Recently I have again watched this movie to refresh my memory.

The Sixth Sense is released in 1999, basically it is a psychological horror movie written & directed by Manoj Night Shyamalan. The movie has a simple and nice story in which Malcom Crowe (Bruce Willis) is a prominent child psychologist who receives an award for his work in Psychology and on the same night he met with one of his ex-patient who was not happy with him due to some unknown reasons. He shoots Crowe in the stomach, and seconds later turns the gun on himself. The scene immediately fades away with Crowe's wife by his side.

After this encounter, Crowe takes on the task of curing a little boy named Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) with the same problem as the ex-patient. The boy has a special sense of seeing ghosts. He is a troubled, isolated little boy who claims to be able to see and talk to the dead people, and Crowe as a child psychologist tries to help him. Crowe spends a lot of time with the boy much to the dismay of his wife and he started studying and living in the basement of his house and his wife started meeting other men (as picturized in the movie).

Cole's mom is at her wit's end with what to do about her son's increasing problems. Crowe is the boy's only hope as nobody believe in his sayings. He use to see many ghosts in his house and outside. Many ghosts come to him and try to talk to him that disturbs the little boy's mind. The boy discuss the things with Crowe and he try to cure the little boy with his experience. He suggests to Cole that he try to find a purpose for his gift by communicating with the dead people, perhaps to aid them in their unfinished business when they were alive. Cole at first does not want to heed this advice, as the ghosts terrify him, but he soon decides to try it.

Cole finally started talking to the ghosts and helping them in completing their unfinished tasks. Now believing in his ability to use his gift to positive effect, Cole confesses his secret to his mother, who at first does not believe him, Cole soon tells her that her own mother (Cole's grandmother) once went to see her perform in a dance recital one night when she was a child, and that she was not aware of this because her mother stayed in the back of the audience where she could not be seen.

He also tells her the answer to a question she asked when alone at her mother's grave. She tearfully accepts this as the truth. Cole also councils Crowe on his marriage, suggesting he try talking to his wife while she is asleep. Crowe's faith in himself also restored as a result of his success with Cole.

The movie has many horror scenes but the viewers get use to those horror scenes slowly and so much involved in the movie that they wish to help the little boy for his problem. The little boy was so helpless before he met with Crowe.

There are very less people acted in the movie and all have acted very well. The climax of the movie was a shocking one. I think that I should not reveal the climax for those people who have not watched this movie until now.

The movie established Shyamalan as a writer & director, and introduced the cinema public to his signatures, most notably his affinity for twist endings. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

I sincerely recommend this movie for serious movie buffs.
