So a review after such a long time but a review it is and what better than to write a review on my favourite Indian novel series - The Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi. Already read and reviewed the first 2 books and now I present to you the review of the 3rd and last book of trilogy - The Oath of the Vayuputras.
The book was released in Feb 2013 end and was one of the most eagerly awaited book of the year because of the superhit status of previous 2 ventures. I also pre-ordered the book and when I received I just started reading it. I ordered it through Homeshop18 for Rs.245. This book was the fattest of all since a lot has to be covered so it goes for 565 pages of story plus some praises for the author and a glossary at the end. These pages were divided over 54 chapters. I took 40 days to complete it.
Let's talk about some story. The book continues from where last book stopped. Now Shiva had to find the evil and had to initiate and fight a war against evil be it against a good empire or not. He alongwith nagas, vasudevs, Sati, Ganesh , Kartik and other kings of other empires initiate the war against Somras which has now turrned evil and fought against once greatest empire built by Lord Ram himself - MELUHA. Will he be able to gain his purpose and able to stop evil or something else happens is what the main soul of this book.
Well the book is awesome in one word but one more sentence I can put - it could have been better. The explanation , imagination, war sequences, scenes descriptions, and arrangement of different parts was brilliant and A-One. Some war sequences and happenings were brilliant , it looked like I am actually watching a Hollywood action flick , though now you may say that this calls for taking inspirations but who doesn't take inspiration from available resources. Some scenes put special impact on readers like Sati's fight prior to climax and the war against Ayodhya and Magadh , the journey to Ujjain and Pariha. I always say and will again say that this trilogy was the Indian Lord of the Rings and Amish is Indian JRR Tolkien. The journey and many unfolding mysteries were superbly explained. The read was simple and you dont feel the burden of so many pages.
But then again I will say that this was not the best book of trilogy, it was second best. Best one was the 2nd book. The book's ongoings could have been better. The part which was the least likeable was the climax. Everything was going perfect but then suddenly the climax was hurried. It felt like a big bomb just got diffused right at the end where it was supposed to be exploded with a long KABOOM! Rest were just fine for me
The book got a good nice cover and I will suggest this book and trilogy to everybody who havent read it till now. Go and purchase and read it. My rating 3.5/5.
