National Institute Of Engineering the very name commands respect from every citizen of mysore.it is one of the oldest engineering colleges established in karnataka.it has providing the world with competent engineers continuosly and has served as one of the best institutions in the karnataka..
HISTORY
it all began when three retired engineers sat down one fine morning to discuss about starting a engineering college in mysore(the then capital of karnataka)..and it started off well and in 1946 nie offered its first enginnering course in civil.it was the only subject then..then it started offering courses in electrical and mechanical engineering.the in 1980's computer and electronic engineering began.it is a co-educational instituition and provides courses in bachelor courses in engineering .it offers engineering courses in 7 subjects..
ADMISSION
the student has to get into the college thruogh karnataka common entrance test.the admisision is done thru counselling.there are three counselling each time for the student to get get into the college.the college was affiliated to mysore university but it is now affiliated to vishweriah technological university whisch is one of the most respected universities in india.
FACULTY
the faculty are absolutely wonderful.the teaching is just superb.the teachers are very regular (and ofcourse are very harsh on indisciplined students).they are available to you any time during the working hours(9-5).all the faculty are very wih the students and are well distinguished with a minimum qualification of masters degree.
CLASSROOMS
There are about 45 classroms in the campus.the classrooms are big and spacoius.each class accomdates a class strength of around 75 which varies from calss to class.
the campus is surrounded withe aesthetis beauty.
FACILITIES
The facilities are great.the library is just fantastic.name any book and you get it there.be it hydrodynamics or fluid mechanics or programming in java.and the staff are very co-operative and help you in finding any books..the labs are huge especially the workshops.they have all the machines you need.computers are in plenty and you can work out by booking slots.and there is this round the clock internet facility.
The college has produced some great personalities.Mr NARAYANMURTHY the chairman of infosys was a student of national insitute of engineering.the great cricketer erapalli prasanna was a student of NIE.true.great isn't it?
i'am a student of this reputed instituition and am proud of it.with cet councelling round the corner I think this review will help the students make a prudent decision.
