Trust me; eight minutes of Mallika Sherawat actually have more energy and excitement than almost 100 minutes of Jackie Chan in The Myth.
Surprised! On the number of minutes Mallika has, compared to all the hype or are you thinking how she can overshadow Chan. Well, in both the conditions, The Myth falls flat on its face.
This should not discourage you from watching this film as it has the conventional and of course risky, very risky action sequences by Chan, only this time in the backdrop of ancient China and on a much larger canvas and locales than any of his movies have had before.
Jack (Jackie Chan) is an archaeologist based in Hong Kong, who is disturbed by a recurrent dream that he is a brave Chinese general and his responsibility is to escort a princess from her homeland to his emperor. Well the story never moves ahead.
The first half is spent juggling between parallel sequences, of ancient China and present day Hong Kong. The wait is too long for the audiences who want to see the two plots meet at some point.
Performances are average. Background score is definitely a plus point. The cinematography beautifully captures the vast landscapes of China.
For hardcore Chan fans, it is visually more enriching than any of his films, but don’t expect novelty in terms of content or situations. The so called Hollywood debut of our Haryana-ki-kudi turns out to be just another skin show (with stunts) that she is best known for (or rather the only thing she is best at).
