Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitarist in the history of the six - string instrument, it was like guitar was an extension of his body. Every riff he produces, every sound he generates seems so natural, so fluent that you'll be left wondering whether he was born with a guitar in his hand.
While everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, let's recollect what Eric Clapton, thought of Jimmi Hendrix. The first time he saw him play with his band, Clapton was shell shocked: he ''Couldn't believe what Hendrix could do with the guitar'' and wondered why he himself played guitar when someone like Hendrix had so obviously mastered the instrument through raw genius. Clapton understood the gap between his and Hendrix's skills spanned far beyond what lifetimes of practicing or inspiration could fill.
Creative Genius, has no substitute. This is the reason, and the only reason, why I have a worshipping approach towards the works of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Led zep and Ozzy.
Jimi's music was a touchstone of ''Sound Painting'' when the music described the words or vice versa.
Are You Experienced(AYE) is the stunning debut album which established Jimi Hendrix's position among rock's elite; where he enjoyed the wide praise for his innovative approach to electric guitar.
Every song in this album is a stone cold classic. Just the three songs 'Hey Joe' 'Purple Haze' and 'The wind cries Mary'itself could serve as a mini - Hendroxopaedia'
.
'Hey Joe' displays his historic riffing techniques; and along with the Mitchell's drumming make listening of this song an out of the world experience.
'Purple Haze,' one of my all time favourites, is an quintessence of Hendrix, the wild soloing, Pschy O lyrics, the screams and; 'of course' the menacing riffs.
'The wind cries Mary' is Jimi, the balladeer, its a gentle haunting melody.
''Stone free'' and Highway Chile' are first examples of rap, its 'black magic' (? music).
'Third Rock from the Sun' is an immortal classic with Hendrix in his lyrical best. AND so is ''May this be love a showcase track of disarming lyricism''.
Foxy lady', 'the title song' are all incredible songs.
Jimi really made only one masterpiece of an album - AYE - never fully able to repeat his first triumph. This album was a huge sensation back then, and it still continues to rule, even now. I wish I could give it Six stars.
JUST BUY IT.
JIMI LIVES!!!.
