Well, I am a avid fan of LOTR movies and have read both LOTR and hobbit novels multiple times.

So obviously was waiting eagerly for this movie for many years. I had a lot of expectations and were constantly following up with the official movie blog for updates.

Finally it arrived and I went on the 15th Dec(my B'Day) to watch it.

Beautiful I must say, because it is indeed a really very beautiful movie and a treat to watch but disappointing for the hard core LOTR fans. Read on for more details.

First the negatives:

-I loved LOTR for its intensity and different worldly feeling.each character simply grows on you and with each time you see it, you like it even more! Sadly that feeling was missing in the hobbit.

-Too much of CGI destroys the charm of the Tolkien's amazing world.LOTR was perfect in that sense, here so many'last moment escape' scenes and you stop fearing the dangerous situations(remember 2012?).it makes movie more like video game.surely not an intelligent cinema.

-Not very good character development, instead focus was on great visuals and CGI.You don't feel for the characters.

-Unnecessary diversions from the book, makes movie lengthy as well as disconnects with the overall story.

-Too much of jokes destroys the mood of the movie.I mean, on a perilous journey one has to be serious and feel gloomy(even though optimistic), but here all the characters were behaving like they were on a picnic?

-The commander of the goblins was turned into a cartoon character, who is hungry for money? common.this is too much .it felt like a video game at more than once.

Now the positives:

-As you can expect from Peter Jackson, the movie sets and visuals are extremely beautiful to watch. a great enjoyable movie experience.

-The acting of the cast is very good specially Bilbo and Gandaft are great in their roles.

-Sound track is extremely good and catchy.it mixes up with the scenes smoothly, and gives you a feeling that you are actually in the imaginary world of Tolkien.

Overall, my rating is 3.5*, a good watch.
