The true forth pillar in print media. Review on The Hindustan Times English Dailies Newspaper

When I read HT newspaper, I feel, a nation talking to itself. News paper is like circulating library of information. Hindustan Times(HT)average circulation of 5 lakhs daily, quite popular in North India.

Before HT, I was subscribing to TOI(Time of India, Delhi). But few months back, I had switched to HT(Hindustan Times). The things which I liked most in HT will describe later. TOI is also ok, but I feel, it more commercialized. I feel like reading ad paper or free add. The best part of HT is that, it news and content are classified in proper sections , layout is very attractive colorful and easy to read . The Front page, it has the main news of the national interests or which has been highlighted by electronic media(TV). The best part HT front page it tried to highlight social issue as well marketing material (masala) which people like to read. Then the metro section which has glimpse of what is happening in the local city, for example in delhi edition they focus on news related to Delhi and NCR.

Social Issues , I feel discuss more in HT from news of people dying due to hunger in UP, Orissa, etc. Farmer Suicide in AP, Naxalism, . During preparation for CWG(Common Wealth Game), it focused on areas lacking progress for event. Kids Nursery admissions, City Traffic Problem with Solutions, to enumerate few. The short story section I also liked it as it is day to happening in the city and nation. I would prefer calling it a “ masala ” news. Brunch , a Sunday magazine I liked it lot. Small, compact and impressive with Vir Sangavi’s section. Cross words , I am not good at it . Some I try but unsuccessful most of the time. Good thing to kill time.

I do read weather forecast , especially during summer but prediction are generic. But I also check weather forecast on weather.msn.com too. Classified section has ads based on useful category like, job, computers, services, etc . Notices and useful Ads are helpful some times like when is the next “Polio Ravivar”, College Admisions info, etc.

I am fan of Comment(Editorial) Section , I love the writing of Sitaram yachuri, Barkha Dutt to name a few. I don’t like Word section too much due to too much focus on US, Pak, Afghanistan. I thing, there is world beyond them too. Sports section , I like a bit because focus is on Cricket which is most likely in India. Little bit on hockey, football, golf, tennis. HTCity, Page 3 masala . You see nice pics of Hollywoods chicks. Just check the pics, need not go into details of gossips. The leisure section has Sudoko, tv telecast info, Bhawiswani , which I read/try sometime for time pass. Don’t forget to check the Hollywood section pics, some time they try competing with deb . J A good newspaper is never nearly good enough but a lousy newspaper is a joy forever.

Business Section , I like the second most important section after editorial. Sometime it is good and useful if you have invested into market and want to track them. Prices of stocks and MF NAV , I check here. Tender , are listed a lot. No idea. Does not make sense to me. May be in future, it could. Now days, they give email id on which you can share with the correspondent with your views. , if happen to miss your daily dose on HT, you can access it online with URL E-Paper : epaper.hindustantimes.com/ . The site a bit slow and need some improvement a bit. Hope they work on this.
