The veteran The Hindu began printing its newspaper in 1800s. It has recorded the rich Indian history starting from British Raj to an Indian PM's first visit to the Jewish nation Israel. It not only prints newspapers but also has an app which can be downloaded from Google Play and Apple Store. The app has been downloaded over a million times. I for one won't ever delete this app. The guys who can't afford the newspaper can download the app and use it woithout entering mobile number or email id. The guys who say that it can't be used without subscription have no idea.
I gave my first IAS exam this 18 june 2017 and I noticed what it seemed like, many questions asked directly out of The Hindu columns. So it is an absolute choice for any IAS or IFS aspirant.
Since I have been using this app for over 3 years, I will be reviewing with respect to the app.
The Hindu boasts an exceedingly huge variety of news comprising of Current, National, International, States, Business, Cities, News in Quotes, Sports, Editorials & Opinion, Entertainment, Society, Books, Life & style, Technology, Sci & Tech, Education, thREAD, specials, Days in pictures, Cartoons, Election and News Digest.
Also if I missed the news then I can actually read them later in the News Digest or can put keyword to find them in the search option. Apart from the search option I can cutomise the news groups to my liking and adjust the backlighting to read the news at night.
The great thing about The Hindu is that there is so much less amount of ads in the newspaper. In app too, but then even though sometimes it faces some ad problem; the problem gets resolved later in a day or within 4 days. If you use the app then you get all the new update in your mobile notification tab and if your internet doesn't work properly or at all then no problem. The app notification automatically generates web address in your mobile web browser so that you can follow the news when you have access to the internet.
I follow the news every single day so it has immensely reduced my exam preparation effort. Now on I get a fair idea about what is happening even though I don't ever watch any TV or read any other newspaper or magazines.
I recommend it to not just IAS or IFS aspirants like me but to everyone else too because it presents a great deal if any news without being too lengthy and never lies nor is biased and is concise in a manner that you get the keypoints in full details .
