I watched this movie for the first time way back in 1997 when it was first screened in the International Film festival in Mumbai. The sound effect (DTS) was missing. So I had to see it again in Sterling Theatre when it was commercially released the following year. Since then I have watched it over and over again in different TV channels. I was fascinated not only with the effects but also the concept of the movie. The story is a good combination of age-old beliefs (prophecy) and new age technologies. In fact the story starts way back in early 19th century and the moves forward by 400 years (23rd century).

The story is very simple, “Evil” against “Good”. The Good protects the universe using the Five elements, the fifth one called the Supreme being. The evil tries to own these five elements since without them Good is powerless. And now it’s Earth’s turn to face the wrath of the Evil, which come in, many form including earthlings. Me being a sci-fi buff really enjoyed the impressive (virtual) set this movie which looked real to minutest detail.

The Good team = Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis), Lilo (Milla Jovovich), The Priest.

The Evil team = A evil Star, Gary Oldman, a whole bunch of alien mercenaries who looks like bull dogs in their real form

Aha! Chris Tucker provide the comic relief as a radio broadcaster

Excuse me for not narrating you the story. Watch this movie and get back to me. It is worth hiring a VCD or DVD. Remember it was nominated for Best Sound Effects Editing. The dress designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.

A must for Bruce Willis and sci-fi fans.
