Originality:

Santoor- never heard of this instrument until when Rahul Sharma came on the scene of Indian music.I was totally addicted to the music & beats of the music emitting from the strings of this magical instrument. This is my first review where I am writting about the ART.I am an avid lover of original art either in musical form or acting or painting .In India where even the IIT professors are into PLAGARISM one should be very much aware of the authenticity of the art we are exposed to.Let me throw some light on this great santoor music composer & player.

Who is Rahul Sharma:- He is the son of the great santoor player Mr Shiv Kumar Sharma,so that is clearly evident that music do run in blood & genes. He is also the ambassador for PETA(People for the ethical treatment of Animals)

Born:-25th Sept 1972

Albums:- Till date 21,Latest is with world renownd sexophonist KENNY G (NAMASTE INDIA)

Music Genres:- Indian Classical Music

Instrument Played:- Santoor ( a type of musical instrument whose strings are struck with a pair of light carved wooden mallets.)

Music:-As I was born in the foothills of the himalayas, and had travelled extensively in these beautiful ranges .Shivaliks,Dhauladhars I was searching for the kind of music which should reflect the beauty of these himalayas.I finally found that in the music of Rahul Sharma. He too is from Kashmir Valley.Sipping a hot cuppa of fine darjelling tea n standing in the bright sun of winters in my room's balcony looking over the himalayan ranges n the sound of the music of rahul's santoor striking my ear drums just makes me feel on the seventh heaven(a state of great joy & satisfaction)

Originality of the music is clearly evident as till date I havent heard such kind of compositions.

One is easily able to connect to the Indian way of life & art after listening to it.

The fusion of various other insrtuments in the santoor strings like tabla, sitar, flute and the latest being a saxophone makes it a 100 percent original piece of art.

Music Label:- SONY MUSIC,SAREGAMA

Format Avaliable:- Audio CDs

Price:- Range from 225 INR to 599 INR

Avalibility:-Musicworlds,Planet M,Flipkart.com (online stores)

Verdict:- In this age of GAGAs,Eminems,Akons one must take time to listen to classical fusion world music which is truely an art form ,to be appreciated and admired.Although I must admit that not too many clubbers will agree with my point but one will definately feel the difference if sitting in the lap of the mother nature with ipod plugged into the ears and a shady tree upon ur head with sunrays filtering through ,a gentle breeze swirling around,no other night club can give u such comfort but one has to take pain to search for a place like heaven.....
