Have any of you ever contemplated what it is to bein the shoes of a geek?? Well here is the closest thing. The big Bang Theory is not a sitcom I watched with anticipation or with any prior interest. ITs just something I happened to put on because there wasnt anything on tv and this was a year back( maybe a year and a half not sure) The plot is usually about 4 super geeks namely.... LEONARD - Played by Johnny Galecci, leonard is an experimental physicist and the lone member of the group who is somewhat ashamed of the geek category he belongs to. He is desperatlely in love with his neighbor Penny but his geekiness makes him unable to pursue it seriously. SHELDON - The best character and my favourate, potrayed brilliantly by the unheard of Jim PArsons. Whatever I can say about sheldon will never be enough. Started college by 11 and got his first PhD by 16!! His IQ of 187 makes him regard even issac newton as intellectually inerior to him. But at the end of the day he is just a big baby who doesnt seem to understand sarcastic or scientifically incorrect jokes. WOLLOWITZ - played by Simon, wollowitz is the only member of the group without a PhD. He is an engineer and has his libido on eternal overdrive... though his constant hair brained schemes to seduce women rarely works, he nonetheless has had more luck than anyone else in the group. KOOTHARAPALLI - YES!! u read that right... Rajesh Kootharapalli hailing from india played by Kunal Nayar is a brilliant physicist and was even featured in people's magazine ' 30 people under 30 to watch out for' and thus has attained a celebrity status. He has an intense dislike for indian food and cannot speak to women until he is intoxicated( or thinks he is intoxicated-placebo effect . Kootharapalli gets an equal amount of airtime along with his counterparts and his character being and equal among others is well appreciated. PENNY - played by Kaley, is a hollywood aspirant currently working as a waitress. She is considered extremely pretty but with sligtly lower intelligence. She and Leonard goes out on a date and normally have an on-pff relationship. These are the characters on the show and the plot of each episode varies dramatically but will always induce laughter. Initially launched with low expectations the show had modest viewrship though its critical ratings were high. But the show became wildly pupular and skyrocketed its viewership to 13.11 million!! This has resulted in them signing on 2 more years ( 2011). The show is like a breath of fresh air... its humor is genuine and not slapstick. And the chrarcters and their chemistry is very well etched be it their halo 3 reserved wednesday nights, their complex arguments et all. IF all this isnt enough watch it for Sheldon... one of the most well played and written characters in recent times. He is in a league of his own and is often acknowledged for making the show as popular as it is today. The big band theory definitely brought the bang back on TV :-) By the way it currently airs at 9:00 pm on thursday nights on Zee Cafe.
