Is your night kind of boring and you need something to shake it up? How about a lot of laughing? They say laughing can heal a soul, well if that is true then the movie I’m going to write about is just the cure for the common blues.
The Banger Sisters
Goldie Hawn plays the role of Suzette. Suzette is still living in the 60's, you know the good old days of rock and roll and groupies, peace love and sex and dope. Even though it’s been years gone by since the 60's Suzette just can’t seem to change her ways. When she ends up being fired from her job she decides to hunt down her former room mate and groupie buddy Lavinia played by Susan Sarandon. Lavinia has changed since the last time Suzette seen her. She is now living a prim and proper suburban life as a wife and mother. No one in her family knows that Lavinia use to be a groupie and have sex with heavy metal rock bands.
She gave up her life in the 60's and doesn’t want to be reminded of her foolish younger years growing up. What she done in her past life isn’t something her “new” proper friends would except. When Suzette arrives at Lavinia’s home she finds Lavinia and her family getting ready for her oldest daughters prom night. Suzette realizes that she can’t just drop in on her and ask her for money.
Oh I forgot before Suzette meets up with Lavinia she ends up running into a older man who has a problem. He is going to kill his father, and he helps Suzette out by buying her gas for him to get a ride. Ok, now Suzette ends up going to the motel room were she left her “guy” friend off at.
She decided that she wasn’t going to drop in on her old friend. Suzette didn’t want to ruin her new life. During that night she is woke up by kids yelling in the motel halls. When she opens the door she see’s Lavinia’s daughter drunk and falling all over the place. She helps the girl out and takes her home the next day. This is when Lavinia first runs into Suzette. At first she didn’t realize who she was, (or did she, but just didn’t want to let on?).
Lavinia is all upset and tries to get rid of her old buddy before anyone seen them together. (Can you imagine a woman as beautiful as Goldie Hawn dressed all up like the 60's with those tight jeans and sexy low cut shirts?) Then picture Susan as a proper lady wearing a brownish colored one piece dress. (Hmm that doesn’t look to good the two of them together).
Will Lavinia and Suzette end up being friends again? The two sure do go through some funny times in this movie. I like the part when they get together and look at the “co*k box” pictures of all the band members they had sex with. They are also high together when they are checking these old pictures out.
Conclusion
I don’t want to give away all the great and funny parts of the movie, but believe me the two of them together are full of laughs. The two daughters of Lavinia are really cool too. The younger child has some sort of breathing problem that is really sick.
The oldest daughter ends up doing things that Lavinia can’t believe , but Suzette understands. The husband is shocked when he first see’s Suzette, and he sure does give her a good look at. The music is this movie was just perfect for the plot and story line. The two actresses together were perfect and they clicked so well.
I loved the ending of the movie, and the laughs were endless. Goldie has always been one of my favorite actresses along with Meg Ryan, so I guess I’m a little bias when it comes to her movies. I like it when Susan finally lets go and has a good time.
How does her family finally end up learning the truth about her past life? How will the girls take it when they find out their mom wasn’t always the perfect girl like they thought? Those are answers you will have to find out when you watch the movie..
Also don’t forget about the man that Suzette stays with during the movie, he has a lot to play in this movie as well with the two friends. He is funny but yet has the serious side to him as well. I am sure you will also enjoy him and his role to. So check this movie out and I must say you will laugh and laugh.
