There is something different about TBD. My association with the brand had commenced in 2013 when it was still in the infancy stage. And since then, I have remained a fan throughout, trying out their different products. And on this New Year’s eve, they were kind enough to send me a big hamper of their goodies. Including one of my favourites, the Indian Sourdough.
Sourdough bread, for the uninitiated, is made with a sourdough starter, which is a fermented mix of flour and natural yeasts that help the bread rise. The difference is the presence of wild yeast(and lactic acid bacteria) that are naturally present in flour, rather than baker's yeast, which makes it more digestible(and much healthier) than regular bread because the fermentation process breaks down gluten that can cause bloating and other digestive problems.
The taste at first might be a bit off-tangent, but then it starts growing upon you. Sprinkled with healthy grain bits, nicely layered with popping air pockets, neither too hard nor too gooey to chew, and the pleasant, not-so-over-powering after-taste wins your heart. And if you layer it with one the brand’s specialized butter(as I did so – please check the next post), that is one wholesome meal you won't forget.
Way to go.
