Dark Ages. Review on Ten Worst Movies of Amitabh Bachchan

The name Bachchan is synonymous with Glory and Charm in Indian Cinema. To pick bad movies from Bachchan era is like describing dark spots on the Moon. Anyway, here I go (as usual in no particular order)

1.Insaaniyat

This movie defied the very name of the movie by doing ''Na-Insafi'' to the Audience. My biggest problem with movie is that, Bachchan was supposed to be doing Guest Role to ''Boost'' the star cast but ended up doing the lead part. Now that means whacked screenplay and jarred editing. A lot of movies in my list are because of the poor technical aspects, Bachchan always gave his best but can do only so much.

2. Ganga Jamuna Saraswathi

The makers of this movie used such a divine name for such a lowly cause, instead of a breezy entertainer this was a stinker in all aspects. Be it the climax scene where Amitabh is wrestling with the rubber crocodile or the Disco-Bhangra move which would give disc slip to anyone that tried, this was awful. Why did Bachchan do it, gratitude towards Manmohan Desai, simple.

3. Jaadugar

Another movie sacrificed in the name of Gratitude, this movie was more funny than being a fantasy. Amrish puri looked like straight out of a comic book (I am using the phrase from Enter the Dragon) and amitabh looked ridiculous in every costumes.

4. Imaan-Dharam

It's impossible to believe that this movie was written by ''stud writers'' Salim-Javed, I think they got carried away by the hype and fame and this movie had to happen for them to realize the reality-check, after this movie at least Javed Akhtar seemed to do better.

5.Toofan

This movie was released pretty much the same time as Jaadugar and ruined the fate of both the movies. This movie was so much in competition that they actually had a amitabh character that was a magician, how about that ?

6.Hindustan Ki Kasam

This movie's caption was ''A Dream by Veeru Devgan'' somebody joked that Veeru Devgan should never sleep again. Another movie trying to be patriotic by following the routine formula. I hated Amitabh's part in this, especially his ridiculous wig, it was awful.

7. Suhaag

Now let me explain why this movie is here before you get all freaky on me. In this movie Amitabh's character had a twin brother, can you guess who it was ? yes, it was Shashi Kapoor (???) You may argue that Danny Devito was Arnold's twin in Twins but I did not agree with that either. At one point, movies exploited the audience's trust by dishing out same formula with Amitabh and Nirupa Rai as his lost mother. It was entertaining the first time around (Amar Akbar Anthony) but time and again, it only became stale and irritating.

8. Hum Kisise Kam Nahin

Amitabh's character in this movie was of a ''Wuss''. After creating a phrase called ''Angry Young Man'' watching him Giggle to Sanjay Dutt's character was painful and insulting. This was supposed to be Analyze This's remake meaning the Doctor had to be funny not neurotic.

9.Kasauti

This was one the early movies of Amitabh with Hema Malini and Pran. This movie had a fairly popular song (picturized on pran) ''Hum Bolega To Bologe Ki Bolta Hai'', other than tha, I dont see any saving grace.

10.Reshma Aur Shera

Ok, If this were Worst Sunil Dutt movies, this would NOT be here but we are talking about Bachchan, the baritone voice that created hysteria all over the nation and they had the nerve to make his character as Mute, how sinful is that ? It clearly shows how intimidated were the makers by his deep voice.
