Bad movies! where do you want me to start :-) In my opinion Bad Movie is not a one with bad screen play, acting , directing etc., my definition of bad movie is when a Team otherwise known for good flicks dishes out a Dud out of the blue, and kills everyones hype associated with a movie, it's pretty bad. People often list Mithun's movies in this category but tell me a guy who went to see his movie thinking, ''Hmm May be this movie will win oscar'' and came home disappointed.
I am not basing my list on the commercial success of a flick as a lot of good movies deserve to be hits and the other way around.
Enough preaching for today, let me get on with the list.
1.Trimurti
This movie had one of the best promos I have ever seen on commercials and apparently was fooled by it, when I watched it on screen, I could only wait to get out. The best part of the movie was when it ended. Although I am NOT a big Subhash Ghai fan, I had decent, if not high expectations from Late. Mukul Anand (Agneepath, Hum, Khuda Gawah) but this one was straight to the Garbage Can.
2.Hum Kisise Kum Hahin
With names like Amitabh, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Aishwarya and David Dhawan and to top it, a Remake of ''Analyze This'', I had full confidence that this would be a sure winner, but contrary to my anticipation, I couldn't stand it for a second. It was pathetically Written, Directed and Acted by everyone. When it comes to dissappointing audiences, ''Hum Kisise Kum Nahin'' lives upto it's name to the T.
3.Mission Kashmir
Now dont raise your eye brows because I know you are thinking this is a good movie and I don't totally disagree with you, It's just that from a very good Movie Maker like Vidhu Vinod Chopra who was born and brought up in Kashmir, I expected a much better portrayal of a very sensitive subject. The Character of Hrithik Roshan was so inconsistently written (From being a terrorist and finding time to sung duets) that I had to put this here.
4.Daud
Ram Gopal Verma, what were you thinking ? Although the movie was funny in parts, The sequence where Neeraj Vora is reciting the ''Sher'' story is one of the most boring scene of all times. This movie gave us a glimpse of talent of Manoj Bajpai and Ashish Vidhyarti but other than that, pretty much a stinker.
5.Aatish
Sanjay Gupta was (he still is) was projected as a Protege when the promos of this movie started appearing but all those impressions went down the drain once this movie got released. People think that if they make a Gangster Movie they are creating ''God Father'', or ''Good Fellas'', or ''Parinda'' but what they dont realize is that it's not the backdrop of Guns and Violence but the character that make up a good story. This movie was so badly written that it wouldn't even probably considered or a Raspberry award (Awards given for worst movie of the year), this was so bad, it actually rebounces and becomes good :-)
6.Bandish
Prakash Jha is always known as a Great Story Teller and with this movie he cast Jackie Shroff and Juhi Chawla, I was expecting a powerful film with explosive performances, well let's just way that I was wrong as I can ever get. This was a mediocre at it's best.
7.Aar Ya Paar
This movie pretty much falls in the same category of the previous one, I was expecting much better story line from Ketan Mehta who had given ''Mirch Masala''
and ''Sardar'' before this movie was released, but this movie defied Ketan's previous movies. This is definitely ''Aar'' and not ''Paar''
8.Yashwant
Nana Patekar who was high flying on the suceess of ''KrantiVeer'' brought upon his own downfall. Nana was stereotyped with the ''Crazy Yelling'' characters that if he didn't do that, people wouldn't believe it's him. This was no different either, same old story with a stupid song ''Ek Machhar Admi Ko Hijda Bana Deta Hai'', first of all tell me a person who uses claps like ''Hijda'' to kill a mosquito ?
9.Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
I couldn't resist but list this movie, I still dont get why movies like this succeed unimaginably and a different effort like ''Teen Deewarein'' almost goes Unnoticed. May be it's not my cup of tea to say the least.
10.Akayla
Ramesh Sippy and Amitabh Bachchan combination has given one of the best movies in Hindi Cinema (Sholay, Shakti) but this doesn't quite qualify in the same realm. Akayla would be Akayla ''Lonely'' when it comes to mention of good movies. The Story wasn't bad, it was the execution and ridiculously stupding looking Villain ''Keith Stevenson'' who used to be a decent comedian in the Pankaj Kapur show ''Zabaan Sambhal Ke''.
What dissappoints me personally is that I like Jackie Shroff as an actor and I've 5 of his movies here in this category but what's got to be done, is to be done.
Take care folks.
