I am going to tell about things you need to have in your car at all times. I am not going to restrict myself with just ten important things, as I find there are more than ten. I might have left some by mistake. But whatever we have in our car, I thought it would be good to share with you all.
My husband always keeps a set of jumper cables in the trunk. Of course, to use them, you need to find a Good Samaritan to boost from. To be on the safety side, you can also get a set of batteries, which you can use to directly start your car battery.
Living in a cold country, obviously we keep ice scraper brush to scrape off the ice from the car.
A big windshield cover to cover your windshield is just what you need to keep your car from getting scorching inside on hot sunny days.
Modern technology has made things a lot safer for people, especially for those driving a car. When a situation arises that you have to wait in your car with your hazard lights blinking, waiting for a helpful person, you can call for help right away with the help of the cell phone if you have one in the car.
Flashlight is a must to keep handy for any emergency in your car. The uses of a flashlight are plenty and I am sure I don’t have to elaborate on that.
First aid kit is the most important thing you should have inside your car. You don’t know when you will need it. You can also keep some tablets for headache, fever etc. Make sure they are not expired.
Few sheets of paper with a ballpoint pen should be kept inside the car to note down anything. The other day, while I was riding with my friend in her car, a car from behind hit us quite unexpectedly, and my friend stopped the car immediately by applying brake. She was in a state of shock. I got down from the car, took the sheet of paper and the pen and went over to the other car, which had dashed ours and noted down the car driver’s details. This was useful, as my friend could claim the damage expenses later. Thank God, we escaped from getting hurt by the sheer mercy of God!
You can keep fabric softener sheets to use them to clean the dashboard, air vents and polish the rearview mirror. They can be stored in a plastic zip bag.
A pillow or a cushion with some blankets , in case your car broke down in the middle of a journey.
Music to enjoy while you drive. I would definitely keep some nice audiotapes and CDs .
A good spare tire is another must. You never know when you are going to need it.
Telephone directory and maps to find the locations are absolutely necessary.
Cans of good water, preferably mineral water , at least a bottle should be always in the car. Just make sure that you clean the bottle or can and fill it up daily.
Of course you will be carrying some cash and some credit cards for any emergency repairs or to fill petrol etc.
I hope you find this review helpful. Keep safe and drive safely. Arrive alive!
