Well............... the year 2005 is coming to an end,i wouldn't say that it has been a great year for BOLLYWOOD,there have been some very good films and those have also been from the new and debutant directors,there weren't many films which gave the actors scope to perform but still there were some great performances which make you sit and notice them and here I 'll list some of my favourite performances MALE\FEMALE performances of the year 2005..................
HERE GOES MY LIST,TEN BEST PERFORMANCES OF 2005...............
1.SHREYAS TALPADE(IQBAL)
...................this has to be the performance of the year.IQBAL was SHREYAS debut film,but he gave just an outstanding and real performance that one could not feel or notice that this was his first film as an actor.A role of a deaf\dumb boy who lives in a village and is obsessed with cricket and wants to represent his country as a bowler in the INDIAN TEAM,the way the film is shot and the way SHREYAS has expressed his frustration,pain,love,victory through his expresions is just brilliant,he makes you laugh,cry with himself,really a very touching and effective performance by SHREYAS and he desrves all praise and applause fir it................LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE OF YOU,SHREYAS.
2.SANJAY SURI(MY BROTHER NIKHIL)
When I saw this film for the first time on DVD I was like amazed at this mans acting,i never knew SANJAY SURI had so much talent to pull a difficult role like the one he played in MBN.He plays a AID's victim in the film and the transformation that is shown in his personality from being a national footbal champion to be a victim of AID's is done with so much conviction,his expressions and body language just shows everything his frustrations,pain and agony...............a very very moving performance.GREAT GOING SANJAY.............
3.SHWETA PRASAD(IQBAL)
.................well this girl did what all our experienced and big names of film industry could not do the whole year.SHWETA PRASAD is a child actor but she acted like a veteran,even in presence of actors like NASEERUDIN SHAH,and if you can stand upto him you sure have given a special performance..............her scenes with IQBAL her brother are the best you could see,her chemistry with him ,expressions on his failure,success are unbeleivable for a girl of her age...............a great performance.U GO GIRL..........
4.AMITABH BACHCHAN(BLACK)
..........................well the list cannot be complete without the mention of this man,when I watched the film the first time I thought he over-acted in the first half and I still feel the same but he made up for it in the second half,he was particularly great towards the end when he starts forgetting thing and he leaves RANI MUKHERJI in the park,and goes back to his home...................and she comes and gets angry at him but he is unable to remember anything was simply brilliant.Thats why he makes into this list.
5.VIDYA BALAN(PARINEETA)
This is what you call a striking debut,where you sit back back and notice a performance,VIDYA BALAN was exceptional in the role of LOLITA coz of the complexity of the character.She enacted the role with grace and maturity,her face spoke volumes and I loved her acting in the scene in the beggining when SAIF slaps her and she says''SHAADI SHUDA HU,ISI LIYE TO,something like that''it was a very good scene because of her super acting.GREAT DUBUT.
6.AYESHA TAKIA(SOCHA NA THA)
................u don't have to act in serious cinema or do de-glam roles to show how capable u r as an actor and AYESHA showed in this film exactly that.Here is a performance which is so effortless,natural,real and adorable that you just connect with it immediatly.I loved her performance in SNT she was just so natural,you'll not feel she is acting..............esp the first scene where she interacts with ABHAY DEOL,one of the most natural acting I have scene,her expressions,dialouge delivery and body language is spot on.............a born actress.
7.SAIF ALI KHAN(PARINEETA)
..................again a very complex character enacted perfectly by SAIF.It was good to see him doing something other than comedy and I think he should take up more of this mature roles and characters,coz he has the talent to do justice to them...............as he did in PARINEETA,his expressions of love,hatred,jealousy,anger were very good...............overall a very good performance.
8.AYESHA KAPOOR(BLACK)
....................another performance from a child artist which made an impact.AYESHA did a great job as a blind girl in BLACK,i have picked this performance just coz it was a very difficult role for a person who is as young as her and she enacted it perfectly,standing up to AMITABH BACHCHAN,thats the most incredible thing.
9.PURAB KOHLI(MY BROTTHER NIKHIL)
.................i really liked PURAB's acting in MBN,it was much better than all those over-rated performances by all the big stars.These are the performances which are great but go un-noticed,it was again a very difficult role and something which was shown for the first time on INDIAN sreen but his mannerisms,body languge,expressions were just brilliant,never thought as if he is acting it was so natural..............
10.JIMMY SHERGIL(YAHAAN)
..................again one of those under-rated actors and performance of the year 2005.His acting throughout the film for great,a fauzi in KASHMIR who falls in love with a girl there and,his acting was mainly through expressions,did not speak much in the film..................but great facial expressions.
Some other mentions i'ld like to make here but since I haven't seen the films I cannot include them in my list......................

SHINY AHUJA(HKA)
NANA PATEKAR(APAHARAN)
........................as for RANI MUKHERJI in BLACK I think it was one of the most over-rated performance of the year.
This completes my list of the best performances of the year..................i have not written this review on the basis of which films were hit this year or which performances the critics praised,i wrote about the performances I like,its entirely my choice...............and the above mentioned performances are the ones I liked,this year.
