This is again a difficult topic for me to write on. I am a sucker for comedies and well nothing entertains me like a good and riveting plot.
I may have a lot of movies which I have missed out but I have tried to put in most of the movies which I liked.
1. Chalti ka naam Gaadi This movie still makes me laugh and it was a classic of a different kind. This movie was made so that it would flop and Kishore Kumar would save tax but it ran very well. I also like Paying Guest, Asha, Half Ticket, Howrah Bridge,Padosan, Sujatha, Bandini, etc were also some of the movies which I liked. These movies help me relax a lot.
2. Aradhana A great movie which I can see again and again. Some other movies which I liked are Amar Prem, Anand, Kati Patang, Bawarchi, Dushman, Madhumati, Mehbooba, Kashmir Ki Kali, Professor, Brahmacari, Angoor, Guddi,Mere Mehboob,Jaane Bhi do Yaron, Mera Saaya, etc These movies are watched by me when I am feeling melancholic and yes somewhat romantic :).
3. Golmaal Well this is an all time favourites. I can watch these movies anywhere anytime. Some other movies which I liked were, Angoor, Chitchor, Chashme Badoor,Chupke Chupke, Anamika, Mausam,Patee patni aur Woh, Sriman Srimati, Jhoothi, KHoobsurat, Choti si Baat, Gharonda, Aandhi etc. These movies ahave been made very well and they portray the realism through humor and it evokes lot of thoughts in me.
4. Silsila This was an unforgettable movie. It also gave rise to various controversies. I also liked Amar Akbar Anthony, Don, Mili, Karz, Yadoon ki Baraat, Reshma aur Shera, Abhimaan, Deewar, Lawaaris, Satte pe Satta, Muqqadar ka Sikandar,etc. These movies entertain me a lot and it has all the masala to spend my time when I am lonely.
5. Mera Naam Joker Well this is a movie which I will not forget as it had a mix of all the human emotions possible. A great movie by a great man , Raj Kapoor. I also have to mention movies like Masoom, Izzazat, Ghar, Bemisaal, Kabhie Kabhie, etc which still evoke strong feelings in me.
6. Khamoshi ( the new one) An amazing movie with amazing acting from all involved. The plot is also very strong. I also liked Qayamat se Qayamat Tak, Dil, Raakh, Sarfarosh, 1947 Earth, Rangeela, etc.
7. Lamhe An interesting movie which went against the norm of Indian society. It was a good attempt to do something which was a little different from the usual and recently I loved watching Dil Chaahta Hai. Something different something new.
8. Lagaan Another epic movie which literally changed the definition of commercial cinema. Some other movies which had a atrong impact on me were, Astitva, Kabzaa, Shool, Naam, Satya, Vaasatav, Virasat,Zubeida, Gandhi, Maachis etc.
9. Art section This portion would be dedicated to the parallel cinema or better known as art cinema. I would definitely like to mention a few of the good movies which I thought had great meaning like Manthan, Mirch Masala, Albert Pinto ko Gussa kyo Atta hai, Mohan Joshi Hazir ho, Arth, Bazaar, Ardh Satya,Shatranj Ki khiladi,Mammo, etc ,. These are movies which I like watching when I am in a philosophical mood and really want to see something which has a lot of depth and layers in the plot.
10. Classics My list would not be complete without this section. Some of the movies which remain etched forever in my mind are movies like Mughal-e-Azam,Umrao Jaan, Do Ankhen Barah Haath, Guide, Pyasa, Kagaaz ke Phool, Sholay, Pakeezah, Saheb Bibi aur Gulam, Mother India, Koshish , etc. All these movies are one of a kind and has had a profound effect on the audience.
