I've always been pasionate 'bout good works of literature- in english n' hindi both. over the years, these r some of the poets/ authors i've grown up readin' and admiring. so, here r the ones who r my favz, read on...
ENID BLYTON- well, she is someone, who needs no intro at all, isn't it.she can definitely be called the queen of storytellers. i've read soo many of her books. right from* amelia jane* to * the famous five n' secret seven, and ofcourse, her unforgettable school story collections, like malory towers , and st.clares * series. great writer, no doubt.
JAMES HERRIOT whoa! james herriot- the animal lover. yup, his cute n' simple stories 'bout animals is like a treat for everyone- especially kids. I read his short story-the triumph of the surgery * at first n' really got addicted. do try readin' his books like-all creatures great and small*, * every living thing, * etc. he's really good. the bestpart 'bout him is ofcourse his passion 4 animals.
AGATHA CHRISTIE her talents for spinning some of the greatest mystery n' suspense thrillers are known to one and all. the creator of characters, like-* hercule poirot and miss jane marply* sure knows how to keep the reader hooked on for hours to a book. her spine chilling suspense stuffs, like *sleeping murder * etc. are just so very good.
ANTON CHEKHOVm I first read his short story-* the confession* in class 9th n' the simplicity and the realistic feeling of his work made me browse thru the school library to read some of his other collection of short stories.
PREMCHAND probably, one of the greatest writers of hindi literature. his style of writing is simple, yet he very very exciting. he's written a lot 'bout the society n' its problems. some of his good works, include-*nirmala, godam, gaban, karambhumi, * etc.
THE BRONTE SISTERS all three of them wrote some really good stuffs. who hasn't read charlotte's * jane austen. it's a gr8 book, ofcourse. even her sis emily bronte wrote some good stuffs, like- wuthering heights*, etc. they were really good.
ROALD DAHL- a great author, very very addictive. his short stories are a classic, be it - the bookseller* or * kiss kiss* or even * the umbrella man*(which was his first book that I read)
HARIVANSH RAI BACHAN a grat poet indeed. his works include the ever popular-madhushala, etc. he's also written a few gr8 and motivational poems, like- * jugnoo* and * prateeksha* etc.
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE writin' anything about the greatness of maestro of literature is like nothing.anyway, I first got the chance to read his poetry * seven ages, which is just a masterpiece according to me, after that , I tried to read his works like- * comedy of errors and a few of his other works, though 'twaz a li'l difficult to understand his style initially, but, later I found it to be just great.
J.K. ROWLING the woman who gave us the ever so popular- * harry potter* . have read the 4 books in the hp series and desperately waiting to read * the order of the phoenix*. wot do I say, she's cool. the twists, the turns, the whole make- belief world the lady has spun 'wid her creation is just amazin'!
so, these wrer some of my favs. it was really difficult to pick 10 out of the whole lotta greats who're there. by the way, I also like to read people like, M john grisham( just read the runaway jury), maxim gorky( read his book mother), . sumitra nandan pant, charles dickens hardley boys, etc. these r some of those great people who've given us such beautiful pieces of literature to inspire us, to motivate us. kudos to their effort!!!
