I picked up the Tata Indicom WLL phone connection on relocating to Bangalore couple of months back. T
heir franchisee sales guy was quite friendly and aggressive till close of sale-came to my office to provide details and came to my residence to collect papers and initial amount.
I have no problem with the phone service itself-connected within 24 hours of submitting the papers and fees. The phone service is quite ok. My problem is with their billing and customer service.
First, I was told that I needed to pay Rs 500 extra as STD/ISD deposit, which I paid up, but when I asked for a receipt of for the amount paid by me, I was given a receipt for the total amount less the deposit, which I was told it was not required and the sales guy had done a mistake by asking for the deposit. So I was told that the amount would be refunded.
I waited for a month. My first bill arrived, but no trace of refund of the deposit. Then started my problems. I contacted the franchisee who sold me the connection-Veenet-Indiranagar-Bangalore, and was told there was no guy by the name of the sales guy who sold me the connection and collected the amount.
Then I contacted Tata Indiacom directly and was given a ''Complaint Number'' and promised action in 24 hrs. No action for 3 days. I called up again and was told complaint was closed as franchisee had promised to repay amount, complaint was closed. Registered another complaint ..this series went on for a total of 5 complaints, and I was finally repaid amount after I refused to pay up the bill.
Now I have a new problem-i am being billed for SMS to '' Special Numbers'' which me and my wife-the only users of the phone-are sure havent been made by us. So I have started another series of ''Complaint numbers'' and I shall keep you posted on the latest....
All in all, I would not recommend a Tata Indicom if you have another option. If you dont, and need a telephone urgently-it is an ok option as long as you dont have any billing issues or performance problems. If you do have any of these options, get ready for a long drawn series of arguments.....
Pros : works ok as a basic telephone service
Cons: no customer support or complaint redressal-the call center is useless
