I took a Tata AIA term plan from this company 2 years ago. I am an NRI. 1st 2 years I paid the entire premium though am an NRI with GST. This year I was advised by an agent to request for GST waiver to the company for the 3rd year payment(PS: my plan is annual payment for 12 years.).
As per their advise I made the payment to the company's HSBC bank account using my NRE account. I made the payment on Sep28th. Today is October 26th, so far they have not updated the GST waiver. I have sent countless emails and made paid phone calls to them from my abroad number. Every single call or email they respond saying we will revert in 3 working days or 5 working days. Ultimately after 3/5 days with weekend, it would be 7 days also, there would be no response. I have to send multiple reminders too. Zero response. I still keep getting SMS notifications saying the GST amount is due and I have not paid it though I have paid the premium excluding the GST as advised by Tata AIA and I have sent email confirmation to them on Sep28th itself. They asked for my bank statement and tenancy contract of abroad which I provided as well in the same email. I have even provided my residence visa to further furnish my proof as NRI. Till date, they have not updated the GST waiver. Worst ever company.
I seriously advise never ever go for any policy with these bunch of morons. There is zero escalation mechanism tooo. The customer care people over phone too know nothing. They never suggest the customer what they need to complete a complaint. They told me after 10s of email, that the abroad address on my profile is different from the government tenancy document I submitted. I told them the document is the official representation of address and they can consider that, but they could not understand anything. I even changed my profile address as per the format they wanted, still no resolution.
When they are so pathetic now for a simple annual payment updation with GST waiver, imagine how their claim settlement will be to our dependents when we are no more. Confirmed cheaters.
I tried to add riders to my policy as well, accidental disability, critical illness. The customer care people told me, I can add the riders from my online profile. It even allowed me to add riders and make payment with GST. But I need GST waiver being an NRI. When I ask the customercare@tataaia people, they say I should have added riders in free look period not now. But online account is allowing me to add riders. Pathetic. They do not know completely about the details they provide us also.
Strictly a no-no to this company. Bunch of cheaters sitting in the name of customer care wasting our time, adding stress to our already busy lives.
I have raised so many telephonic complaints as well, waiting so much time on IVR. I requested them to call once to my abroad number to resolve my request. They didn't call me even once to my abroad phone. They tried to call my inactive Indian number and send an email we tried to reach you. If you need anything mail us. Then again same cycle would start. If you mail them they will respond we will revert in 5 working days. Atrocious.
