The film begins with the death of an actor- Arman Kapoor. It is up to Surjan- a police officer- to solve the case of his death. Surjan is dealing with his depressed wife Roshni, while he himself is spending sleepless nights. His wife Roshni soon becomes better by holding seances with her dead son Karan, which Surjan doesn't approve of- and the couple soon starts growing apart. Surjan meets Rosie- a temptress who helps him solve the mysterious murder. The film twists and turns thusly- the ending is far from predictable. It is highly entertaining and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout.
The performances are very good. Amir Khan has done a good job as Surjan Shekawat. Rani Mukherjee is fabulous as Roshni Shekawat and doesn't fail to make an impact even though her role isn't too lengthy. She looks beautiful in her simple cotton sarees. It becomes rather apparent- towards the end- that it isn't Amir Khan, but Kareena Kapoor as Rosie who is the real hero. She looks gorgeous in her diaphanous clothes and has done a splendid job in the acting department as a mysterious seductress serving as a police informant.
The music is quite good and the background score is apt and appropriate for the scene.
The story is strong and the dialogues are good if not a little mediocre. This movie is definitely a good watch and maybe even a must watch. It is also necessary to mention that the main clue of the twists in the movie- lies in the title- Talaash.
