Talaash..the much awaited Amir Khan's movie.Story which is a thriller and revolves around 3 major characters-Amir,Rani and Kareena.
Story-The movie starts with the glimpse of Mumbai's red light area, taxis, marine drive and then accident of famous film star..Enter Amir khan,Police inspector investigating the case.
He tries to figure out the case while struggling with the turmoil in his personal life..there is a parellalism and similarities between two accidents..one of the film star and another of Amir's son..both died drowning in water.
Amir finds himself quiet close to the case and still far ..Rani mukherji plays the role of his wife who is trying to come to terms with the fact that her son is dead and also coping with the inexpressive husband.Kareena plays the role of a call girl who gives hints\clues to Amir regarding the case.
There is an unexpected sixth sense kind of end of the movie...which few may find dissapointing but I personally liked.
Direction-Reema Kagti has skillfully directed the thriller ...its deliberately slow paced in the first half and picks up pace post intermission. Not even once it fails in capturing the attention of the vieweres..
Acting-
I must praise the casting director for the selection of the cast.each and every actor is hand-picked and seems as if born to play their respective roles.
Kareena as a prostitue looks quiet convincing..reminds u of chameli in western outfit..she looked really pristine.
Rani's role dint had much in it..but whatever she got to play, she did complete justice..emoted quiet well.
Amir is the real hero on whose shoulder the movie rests..He may not have the die hard fan following like Salman or shahrukh, but people are die-hard fans of his movies..there is a lot of expectation level set from an Amir khan's flick and he bowls u over every time.
The dual character he plays, one of a grieving father and another of a strict inspector was praise worthy..The scene in which he replays the day on which his son died and thinks of the alternate options he could have resorted to saving his son looked so real and touched the deepest emotions ..
Nawazuddin also did complete justice to the character he played.
Music-
Vishal shekhar delivered a hummable track.Music acts as another character taking the movie forward..songs are appropriately placed and thats what add to their charm.
My personal favs are jiya lage na ,jee le jara and tum yahin ho..Kudos to the music directors
Negative point-The climax was a bit unconvincing for the rationals..Ghost angle dampens the spirit.
Verdict-3 stars for Talash.
