Hi friends,

Presently I am planning to buy a 100cc bike for my use. I had carried out elaborate research about the various bikes available in the 100c category. I was especially inclined towards Suzuki Hayatae due to the respect I have for the brand suzuki and the less number of hayate bikes on the road( so that I could look unique). So I started searching for all the reviews on Hayate including the ones in mouthshut. Finally I have compiled the pros and cons of Hayate based on all those reviews. I felt that there could be many more users who are also curious to buy or considering to buy hayate.

This summary of reviews could be useful them. Please note I am not a representative or  dealer of suzuki motors or some other company. So I am not required to praise or decry this bike. These points are honest and unbiased. I have carefully avoided those points mentioned by some users which were written simply out of their frustration due to a problem with the dealer or  they had different expectations about the bike. In the same way, there are some users who praise the bike due to the love they could have developed with bike that they bought. I have only extracted the genuine and professional opinions. Hear are my points.

Pros:

Brand; No doubt that suzuki is the second most respected two wheeler brand in India next to Honda. So buying for a suzuki or honda or yamaha bike gives someone a unique pride

Price: When I inquired about the current on-road price, I was told that It is 55000. This is 3000 rupees less than Honda dream yuga. but little more than Honda Neo. This price is on par with Discover.

Style Even though there are other stylish bikes in 100cc like discover, yuga, tvs sport, I felt Hayate looks cute due to its compact size and the color options.

Performance Many have mentioned that the engine of hayate is smooth and not noisy. Even while going in top speeds, the bike remains silent and less vibrations felt.

Build quality Suzuki bikes are known for their build quality, this bike is no exception. The plastics are also in good quality. But it is a bit poorer in the welding works.

Good dynamics The drivability of the bike is superb. It remains stable on all surfaces and while turning. Breaking is good but not the best.

Cons:

Mileage It is understood from most reviews that the mileage returned from this bike is between 55 to 65. There are people who may get better mileage due their careful driving or the better driving conditions. But on the whole, the mileage is lesser than most other 100c c bikes like honda yuga, discover.

Gear system Suzuki hayate have got all four down gear system which is not the convenient one. But this is the same with Honda yuga which has all four up.

Dealership NetworkIt is a mystery that why suzuki have not aggressively increased their dealership network which even a mahindra was able to do. But thankfully, 100 cc bikes are generally used within the same city or town. So if there is a dealer in your place then no problem.

Resale Value It is true that people buy their bikes for their use not for resale, but it is also necessary that the bike should have a decent resale value. Comparing with honda and hero bikes, suzuki bikes are poor in this aspect.

No disc brake option Only drom brakes are offered. I am again amused on why suzuki could not offer a disc break even as an option. But fortunately Honda Yuga and Neo too do not have the disc break option. Bajaj discover have this option.

Bike size Not sure whether this a drawback or not, because the relatively small size  of Hayate is liked by people who are average sized. Tall people will not find it as comfortable as Honda Yuga.

Not upto suzuki's brand If this bike was sold under bajaj or tvs, it could been praised as a very good bike. But people know the capability of suzuki motors. So to their standards, this an average bike only. But this is certainly an improvement comparing with the earlier bikes like heat and slingshot

So at the end of my analysis, I had shortlisted only four choices- Hayate, Yuga, TVS Sport and Discover 100M. I could easily understand that Yuga is the best bike among the four in terms of quality, performance, reliability, mileage and image. They have also got a good number service centers. Hayate competes very closely with yuga in the aspects of quality, performance and reliability. But with mileage, service centers and resale value, it is far behind.

The one advantage of Hayate over Yuga is it is 3000 rupees cheaper than yuga. The next strong contender is Discover. It is very stylish, good performance and good mileage. There are also adequate service centers. But the resale value is only average. Finally I have decided to opt for Hayate since it is my personal preference among the three bikes. You could also go for any one them that attracts you more since all three are good bikes in very aspects
