Sharing a very sad incident that took place with us at Surya Hospital - Wakad, Pune. This happened yesterday around 12:30 AM with a Dr. Called Pratik Soni who was the night staff. I was there for an emergency check up for my son with my sister, we reached Surya Hospital around midnight to get the dehydrated child some treatment, my son was cranky and was new to this hospital plus he had loose motions since morning for which we had already taken medicine from our paediatrician from another clinic.
The moment we reached the causality in the entrance itself the nurse who were sitting and chatting with each other asked us what happened, we explained what is the child suffering from, then the Onduty doctor Pratik Soni asked us to put the baby on bed and as the child was cranky he took time to sleep but the doctor had no patience and started talking loudly with the child, seeing that I asked him to please talk softly with a child but the moment I said this he asked us to leave and take the child to a different hospital!
‘Kyon aye hai aap yaha pe?’
We were so surprised with his behaviour, he was talking in a loud voice and was rude to other child in the same casualty but those parents didn't mind hence this doctor thought it’s ok to do the same with us also but when I mentioned the doctor to behave he asked me to wait outside and started asking me ‘WHO ARE YOU and WHY are you removing your house frustration over here!’
He also told the staff - all of you leave don't stand here Yahi faltu me time waste ho raha hai
My sister and I were speechless with such people who claim themselves as child doctors, are they really trained to handle children or are they Animal doctors? Maybe they are Vets!
A hospital like Surya has such uncivilized doctors on duty who don't have basic etiquette to talk to women is such a Shame!
This doctor tells us to continue with the same medicine what our paediatrician has prescribed and asked us to leave.
We went to reception area to complain about this, the receptionist called the MOD: Manager on duty - Rohit, who was of no help despite of narrating him the above story.
After we complained then the on-duty doctor Pratik Soni realised that he didn't even give us the prescription, he then quickly started asking us for the child's name
Age
Weight etc.
Which he should have ideally asked the moment we came to examine our child, initially he asked to continue with same medicine what our pediatrician had given, later he just added zinc to that prescription. All this happened after we complained to the MOD, then the doctor realised he should have given us the prescription. I asked them Is this a joke? What is the logic of not giving any prescription and not taking any consultation charges but the moment we logged a complaint, prescription was written and charges were taken, like what is going on in this hospital?
We paid Rs 850 for all this hassle we were going through and my son was crying due to stomach ache and dehydration and these people rather than helping us, gave us a tough time by giving us run around and to add to this the receptionist was not giving us the bill for consultation charges we paid, after insisting she gave she was giving excuses, looks like the whole of night shift staff was involved in this game.
This was so stressful, Dr. Pratik Soni had a different tone while we were leaving finally, he said jiske pass complain karna hai karlo I am a senior doctor here! Probably he knew that no one is going to take any action on such an act/ behaviour.
There are many options when it comes to hospitals here in PCMC side, but such kind of pathetic service we don’t get even in municipality hospitals now a days!
I am hoping the camera in the hospital was working, I have emailed my complaint to the email address that they gave me but no response. I am sharing this so that no one else goes through such a situation in that hospital. Please share with relevant people/ groups for awareness.
