The title should be self-explanatory; Supernatural – something that happens out of the ordinary that cannot be explained. In India, we used to have TV shows such as ‘Aahat’ and ‘Sssshhh… Koi Hai’ which was of a similar nature however the only and I mean “major difference” that lies between the TV shows of the western world and the Indian television is that the dramatization is very believable.
So what is Supernatural all about then? Well, it is a story of two brothers, Sam and Dean played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles who hunt supernatural creatures across America and do an ‘awesome’ job of ensuring that peace reigns over the land. Much like most brother stories are concerned, this one too is quite riveting and it shows an actual relationship or a close bond between the two brothers as the series progresses.
The writers have shown us viewers that life may not be all that glossy and it can bite you in the backside if you’re not able to handle it. The brothers go through a lot of ups and downs in the series and have to face numerous obstacles throughout their journey while even casting doubts on each other much like a normal brotherly relationship goes through. What I love about this show is the ‘human element’ that the brothers have brought out in this show.
Supernatural is currently broadcasted on The CW Network Channel and it is currently at the end of the 8th season with a confirmed 9th season beginning in the Fall(September) slot. There could also be a 10th season. So far, the writers haven’t promised anything yet but it looks like Supernatural could have a beautiful ending for the brothers finally.
This show does have a lot of gory action scenes and it’s certainly not suitable for someone with a faint heart. Chances are you might end up having visions like Sam does or land up in Hell like Dean did. Yes, Hell! Sound interesting? Well, what are you waiting for? Get cracking on this superb series which also happens to be my favorite and trust me, it’s worth every second.
If Dean ever read this post, he’d say, ‘Awesome’
Cheers!
