Mouthshut needs to expand their product range... (or) I am unable to find the section for "Packers and Movers".
Well, to start off, I had planned to shift my house to Kodichikanahlli (for those who don't this area, this is near Bomanahalli) and was searching for packers who can do a decent job (read, no breaking items, loosing out stuff, good in packing and unpacking etc). I was unable to find one on Mouthshut. Hence I thought I will start off...
The shifting has do be done from 2nd floor (no lift) of my old house to 4th floor (with lift) at my new house. The distance is 5 kms. I got 3 quotes for 5000, 3000 and 3500. Finally, settled for 3000/-.
The next day, a team of 3 was there at my house on-time. They bought cartons and started packing things. It started off well but soon, the misery started. There was one wooden almirah (2 door) that the team was unable to carry in the narrow staircase. Without even consulting me, they dismantled the whole piece and uploaded in the tempo. I realized this only after reaching the new house. (Thank God, they did not do that to my refrigerator)
The miserable story slowly unfolded during unpacking at my new house. In the name of "professional" packing, they dumped everything in the cartons in the most unprofessional way. When the kitchen items carton was opened, there was atta all over the cans, oil spillage, pickle oil on plates, glasses etc. I wish they renamed their company as "Slumlite" instead of "Sunlite".
When I called up Vinod Sharma (Mob 98458 38529), the owner, about the almirah, he tells me "adjust sir, these things happen during shifting". Then what is the point in going for a Packer and mover. You can as well get in touch with a local tempo traveler who will do a much better job at a lesser price.
