Sulabh started in early 70's in Bihar. Actually in early 1970 some higher govt official of presidents calibure was going to visit Bihar. The place where the Guest was to be accommodated was a huge garbage and water dump. Although the officials had alloted the work of its cleaning to someone, but unfortunately the work was still pending with only few days left for the ministers visit. Dr Bindeshwar Pathak while looking at obvious frustration on the faces of officials requested to get this work alloted. He did it so nicely that the garbage dump was turned into a green park with day and nights hardwork. Dr Bindeshwar Pathak was given the first official contract of developing the Sulabh Toilets that are way too ahead to general flush systems.
Today The sulabh Association is working in many countries including India to build the high efficiency, low cost toilet complexes thus creating a history and serving the nation and humanity.
