In late 2002 while moving into our new flat in East Delhi one of the first household appliances we invested a substantial sum was a Luminous Power Inverter(750 VA) and I should say that this investment has been worth each and every penny. This Invereter which then cost us appx Rs.10,000.00 easily lights up 3 tube lights and three fans for about 4 hrs. Generally it takes care of emergency lighting requirements during power cuts and you do not have to grope and look around for that illusive candle and matches in the dark. Its really a boon and I feel that every household should have an inverter to take care of the power cuts and failures that of late seem to be a rule rather than an exception. Anyday better than those small generators which create so much of noise and pollution. This appliance hardly needs any maintenance and if you just check the water in the battery every three to four months and keep topping it up when required, that's all you need to do. No need to give any AMC although the companies do offer one now. For the last three years we have had no problem and the battery is going strong. During power cuts one should be careful that you use lights and fans judiciously and do not overload the inverter and use the minimum power required and I am sure you will get the maximum from your inverter.
