Race for the Trophy..SOTY!. Review on Student of The Year

SOTY-a typical Kjo's movie with glossy background,students who wear designer brands,who are more keen to outshine each other in dance competitions/basketball/football matches than in studies..Students who are super kids and who know how to excel without practising:)

A feel good movie with a simple story line told in a fantastic manner.

Story-Its a story of rich kids(the 'TATAS') and poor kids(the 'BATAS') studying in "St teresa's" and vying for the most coveted trophy "Student of the year".Rich and spoilt brat Rishabh(Varun dhawan) who enjoys basking in the attention of every student..till the time Abhi happens(Sid Malhotra)..a poor kid with superb IQ..chalta firta Google.

After some twists,the enemies become friends..but the friendship looked quiet one sided..Varun dhawan looks like the one "nibhaoing dosti"..for sidharth its competition all through..

Problem in the friendship arises when the competition crosses the border of SOTY and involves vying for the same object of affection also...the climax was really good and rivetting.

Direction-Kudos to the director for treating a regular two boy one girl story in such a fabulous manner..the movie keeps u rivetted to ur seats..u eagerly wait for the climax.Desperately want to know with whom the girl will marry.

Thats what a director's job is and Kjo proved his mettle by this movie..Its a typical bubble gum movie but he never let the predictable story sag anywhere.

Acting-

Each and every actor did justice to the role assigned to them.Rishi kapoor as a happy n "gay" dean of the school..looked funny and cute:)

Ronit roy,ram kapoor all were great.

Varun dhawan displayed class and looked charming.

Alia bhatt has to really brush up her acting skills a lot.she reminds u of "poo",kareena's character of yesteryears..she looked charming.

But the surprise package was Sidharth malhotra.The new actor reminds you of SRK of deewana days..he acted in a fantastic manner,emoted through his eyes and compels the viewer not to treat him lightly..Very promising.I personally loved him!!

The fresh fruits,esp the boys,have a lot of calibre and will go a long way.Esp Sid Malhotra

Music--pleasant music and quiet peppy numbers..disco diwane,radha and ishq wala love were really melodious

I never thought I will give 3 stars to SOTY.Never expected much from this flick..but it surpised me completely!so 3 stars for fresh fruits and for their headmaster Mr Karan Johar.
