Remember those days when cable TV hit India, what a revolution Star TV brought to the whole TV industry! The total Indian viewership was limited to Chitrahar and the 9ó-clock news on DD and now 24-hr service. I still remember, when the timings of any show were given (on any of the international channels) India time was not even worth the mention. After watching star plus, the definition for comedy (rather I should say TV) completely changed. I still remember all the shows MASH, Bold and the Beautiful, Santa Barbara, Home Improvement…, Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and so on goes the list.
After some time Indian viewership increased to a large extent and India time became worth a mention. As more time passed by, the Indian viewers was what they were left with, atleast we were the majority. Hence, they Indianised * plus completely. They introduced Hindi serial, dubbed some of the English soaps in Hindi (BAB, Small Wonder) and started showing movies. I was damn upset. Not that I am some “Angrezi memsaab” but we had Zee and Sony for all that. But soon * introduced a new channel STAR WORLD which was an exact replica of what * plus used to be.
All the favorite soaps, comedies and thrillers were back in action. There were many new series as well as those, which weren’t yet over. One of the major attractions of the channel is “FRIENDS”. The biggest teen sensation…. I better not start about it (have already written a review on that). The others include: -

Fraisier
Bold and the beautiful
Ally mc Beal
Happy Days
Mark and Mindy
Baywatch (of course!!!!)
Everybody loves Raymond
Sabrina-the teenage witch
Dharma and Greg
Doogie Howser
Wonder years
And so many more……….
The special events that they cover are particularly astounding. Some of them namely are The Grammies, American Music awards, Ricky concert, Who wants to marry a multi millionaire??(That was pretty dumb actually)..But mostly they are all pretty good.
One of the major flaw with this channel is, most of the comedy series on air are repeated. This doesn’t happen once in a while but some of them have been repeated a minimum of 5-6 times!! That really does get to you!! All the shows aired are quality, but till the point when we see it once.
All in all it is a good channel and need a bit of improvement here and there.
