Scene no3KP is found of an innocent 10 year old girl, Didi who makes her living by selling flowers on the road. Kp considers her as his own sister and misses her when she is not around. As time goes she gets succumbed to a Paedophile. KP succeeds in finding her and when he persuades her to get out of the clutches of the man who gives her everything for his desires, she turns him off saying that 'all men are the same' and can you give me the chocolates.
When this movie was released in late nineties, it was widely criticized and was one of the most controversial film of the decade. Film opens up a debate on the issue of sexuality in modern society. It unfolds the layers of those emotions of human behavior that was earlier considered taboo in the civil society or not discussed openly.
The whole film is based on a talk show “ split wide open” which is conducted by British returned anchor Nandita (Laila Rouass). In this show one can express and share his dark secrets on sexuality, martial rape, homosexuality, and bisexuality without revealing his or her Personal Identity.
This is a different film not meant for the masses. Dev Benegal After English August has come with the niche direction, and all the cast and performances did justice with the role.
