Too much spicy!. Review on Spices and Sauces, Gariahat, Kolkata

I went to Spices and Sauces with a friend a few days ago in the afternoon. This restaurant is not very far from my home at Dhakuria. It's an A.C. restaurant, and the ambience is small and cozy.

My friend ordered a mutton biryani. I was not feeling that hungry, and hence, decided to order just a plate of garlic pepper chicken. However, the staff at the restaurant informed us that garlic pepper chicken is not readily available, and hence, will take a quite a long time to prepare the dish. Instead, they insisted me to order chili chicken. So, I settled for a plate of chili chicken. But to our utmost shock, the chili chicken too took a long time to get prepared and served. So, I just can't give the customer service of this restaurant a thumbs up!

Now, as far as the quality of the food was concerned, I am afraid the chili chicken was just not up to the mark. It was way too spicy for my liking! I shared it with my friend, and he too felt the same. In this context, it's important to mention that the chili chicken was priced at Rs. 240. On the other hand, the mutton biryani my friend ordered also turned out to be not so special. As there were two pieces of mutton, I decided to taste one along with a little bit of biryani. The mutton was quite hard and the biryani came with no aroma. Also, there was no innovation as far as the presentation was concerned. It was priced at Rs. 170. Although the prices turned out to be not that unreasonable, that doesn't mean you'll compromise with the quality so much. Therefore, it was just not value for money by any stretch of the imagination!
