Usually for my mom's or dad's birthday my daughter makes a card and I scan and send it via email. This time around however we decided to do something different. My dad's birthday was coming around and we decided to send the card through post. My daughter's was very excited about the whole process of putting a stamp on the envelope and putting the letter in the red box.
Since it was a kind of last minute decision I debated with myself about sending it via courier. Finally I opted for the Indian Speed Post service just to check out the service and time they would take to deliver the card.
The staff in the post office near our house was courteous. The speed post that I sent cost Rs.40 which is very nominal compare to courier service.You get a tracking number once you pay the money using which you can track your post online. There was a lot of crowd so Indian post services are very popular probably because of its low cost. We posted it 2days before my dad's birthday and the staff in the counter said it would reach in 2days which would have been the date of my dad's birthday. However it did not reach that day. Next day was a Sunday but on Monday the card was delivered. Most courier services do not deliver to my parent's house saying it is out of their delivery range.
Indian Speed Posts can be tracked online through their websites so I was able to kind of predict when they would deliver the card.
Amazon has started using the Indian Postal services for their delivery. A few items that I ordered have been sent by the seller through their service. It takes about a week or at least 5days for the product to reach me. Comparatively other courier services deliver in 2days.
This will be a really good service if they can improve on their delivery time.
