I don't come across Hindi movies that I am tempted to write about in positive manner, but this movie made me jump off ma sofa and take note. Till the end, I was gripped by its characterization, storyline and performance of actors. When was the last time, I sat through a Hindi movie till the end? Special 26 is one movie that I am proud of as an Indian moviegoer and cinema critic. Simple, yet gripping is all I can say about this movie.
To be frank, initially I was a little skeptical about the movie. Never been a fan of Akshay Kumar kind of cinema, baring Hera Pheri (only original, sequel was a big let down) and OMG. I had actually taken an oath of not going for any movies of Akshay after Rowdy Rathore, but I guess this actor is really working hard to change people's perception now.
Coming back to Special 26, it is not the kind of cinema that we come across frequently in Indian movie industry. It is sure 'hatke' and not to forget has a real story (are you surprised) and a script. Though music is a big let down (I think movie could have done without music), the performance of all actors make up for the loss on that front.
The only regret I have from this movie is- Divya Dutta's part could have been longer. She was wasted.
Otherwise, it is a movie for keeps....
