Great Console but Terrible India Service. Review on Sony Playstation 3

Sony PS3 console is no doubt a great gizmo for the gamers esp with Blue Ray/HD and 3D options. It is fast and looks good too with your other home theater setup. Probably is the only console that can be used as a Blue ray player and gaming console too.

Games and movies are a bit expensive but so are other competing options too. Blue Ray experience is unmatchable compared to others.

While there is no complaint about the PS3 performance as such its durability has concerns. Add to that Sony's customer service sucks in every aspect from contact to solution phase. They are very uptight and arrogant. Service in India is totally missing in-spite of  PS3 being popular in India. I wonder how the authorities allow such blatant violation of consumer laws in India.

I own two machines and both were bricked after updates from Sony but strangely Sony insists that I must have purchased the machines in India to get the support. In this internet age this is atrocious when all other companies offer world wide guarantee. All in all the wonderful experience of this console is negated by the terrible and arrogant customer service of Sony India.

Until this service issue is sorted out I would not recommend this console in-spite of this being the best.

Dec 2012 update. I escalated the matter to the top honchos of Sony India and surprisingly my units were accepted in the discounted offer and I received brand new PS3. I am happy and believe that though the customer service is not up to the mark but when highlighted the top men do help.
