After doing a lot of research or should I say after making my friends do a lot of research I decided to go for Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V( priced at 17.5 k) , Why I went for it even though it was a little over my initial budget of 15k?

I fell for the good looks :(

Android 2.3.4Multi touch

1 Ghz processor

HD Camera

Look & Feel :

Like I said before its an extremely good looking phone, comes in three colours - White, Blue Gradient, Silver , I opted for Blue Gradient, its beautiful how the blue merges into the black, also the phone is kind of curvy!

The top part contains two ports an USB, HDMI and 3.5mm jack, the left side contains a lock/unlock button, a small light to indicate the battery status and any events, a camera button and buttons to control the volume, it has three buttons in the front right bellow the screen – Back, Home and more options (Quality of these buttons are not so great, I would have rather preferred touch buttons)

The SCREEN :

Dimensions are 116 x 57 x 13 mm and the screen size is 3.7 inches which is perfect for me, its neither too small or obnoxious! Its some where in the middle and just the right size to hold in your hands! Display is LED-back lit LCD, clarity is great ( more on this later) and is scratch resistant too! ( Already drop test done 2 times :( )

The Android Experience :

As a first time android user I am just WOWed by the features it brings into the table, everything is just so simple and a touch away! After you connected to WIFI or you are using a net plan, All you need to do is connect to the android market using your gmail account and sync all your contacts and there you go, you don’t miss any of your mails/ fb updates / tweets etc

There are thousands of applications to choose from the market, sometimes you are spoilt for choices! You can never get bored since you can always uninstall an application if you don’t like it, It took me a while to realize that the thing in my hand is almost like a computer and not just a phone!

Some of my favorite Apps : Battery Widget, Slice It, Runaway Zombie, Cloudy all free!

Memory :

Has an internal memory of 330 Mb and comes with a 2 GB card (extend-able up to 32 GB) is one of the cons! , it really depends on you, I had to extend it up to 8 GB cos 2 Gb is not enough for me :)

Performance:

I use WIFI and the speed is actually really great, found no issues in terms of performance as yet, capacitive touch screen works like magic, its smooth and supports multi touch too!
Messaging with qwerty touch key pad might get a little bit of getting used to, but after a few days its very easy then most things are like that! :P threaded view helps you to effortlessly organize your texts based on the sender and you don’t have to run to contacts every time to message your bf/gf !

A friend of mine had been complaining that my voice is too low for him to hear me over the phone and when I called him for the first time from this phone he told, ‘What happened to your voice? Its so clear and loud now?!” Need I say anything else? ;)

Camera :

Has 5 MP primary HD camera with flash face recognition and touch focus, the pictures come out great and the videos recorded are pretty reasonably good too ! The camera has a kind of a steel groove so that it doesn’t get scratches when you keep it on something! I am pretty happy with the camera, I don’t believe I am a photographer!

Battery Back Up:

Now coming to one of the major drawbacks of this phone, the battery is just not good enough! Three hours of continuous usage and 100% percent magically becomes 5%, this is not the phone for messaging freaks or who are on the net all the time, but I have found out that if you decrease the brightness to the minimum you can increase the battery life but you can’t play any games with that!

One more thing, the cover that they gave with the phone is just awful! :l I mean such a pretty phone and a cover which is like a rag! And the ear phones are a major disappointment! L

Sound:

Like other Sony Ericsson phones this too delivers in this department, I absolutely love watching movies, the loud speaker is great and has FM Radio too, I have had some problems with the sound in crowded buses but I am thinking its because of the ear phones!

Over all I would say its almost a perfect phone, I got what I hoped for and much more, it all depends on what you want your phone to be,

Go for it if you

Want a good looking phone
Love playing games
Don’t want to store too much in your phone
Like watching movies on your phone

Don’t Go for it if you,

· Want good battery back up
· Want memory storage for free
· Cant compromise with bad earphones and mobile cover ! :-P
