Recently I bought the Sony Camcorder from Sony World , Bangalore. I find the product very good. Overall picture quality is also good. I have taken several videos and its pretty nice its terms of zoom and video capture.
Best part is that although its a 1Mega pixel camera, but the still comes very good.
However one negetive side is that , if you want accessories for this camcorder, SOny is pretty bad at it . Its sad that they import these cameras and sell it locally without getting the accessories. Typical accessories which are useful for this camera are video flash .
Which they usually do not have and is over priced. They have no warranty on any Sony accesories , which is unbeleiveable. In that case its better to buy from Grey market.
Even they do not sell head cleaner cassette which is very much needed . I had to finally import it from US. Infact in the first month itself the head was reporting dirty , and I was in midst of taking my daughters videos , and it was so hard to find this cassette in local market.
Sony needs to improve its customer service and accessibily for customers to sony accessories .
Overall its a good buy though. I did not had to take it for service or repairs yet .
However the same camera is available in US for 500 USD , as compared to ~40000Rs in Sony World India. May be it makes more sense to buy from abroad and you save around 15000/- straightway.
I am doubtful about their service center staff skills , so whatever warranty you get by buying locally may not help you much anyway.
