In a world like today, it has almost become a neccessity to move on from pen & paper to a PDA or other device. For this, I decided to shop for a good PDA. My requirements were simple: 8 MB storage, re-chargable, within 300 USD. I started my search by exploring diffrent models of Palm Pilots. The one which best met my requirement was Palm Vx. However, Vx is for $400 USD and it seems as though Palm is never going to bring down the price, even if the world turn from one way to another! Frustrated, I decided to look at other companies. One that quickly took my attention was Visor by Handspring. It was a good model but the only drawback was its look and a little less than 8 mb storage. After I dismissed buying Visor or Palm, I found Sony Clie! Clie is Sony's version of the Palm PDA and also uses the same Palm Operating System. Its cost is what caught my attention, its regular price is same as a Palm Vx... 400 USD but most stores sell it for $350. After $350, I found out that Sony was giving a $50 rebate on it. It made it $300 after rebates. Still I was not satisfied, I searched a lot and found a store(in the US) which has this device for 306 before rebate!
As anyone's guess, I went ahead and bought it from that store. I was not sure whether I will receive the rebate from Sony if I purchased it from this store. But I found out that I have nothing to loose! If sony does not send me the rebate, I still get it for 300 and if they do... $250... nothing better!
So after receiving the Sony, I cannot be more amazed by it! The biggest advantage is Sony has integrated its memory sticks with its PDA model which means that you can buy a memory stick(8 MB stick for abt $50) and plug it into the Clie! This make your Clie memory unlimited! More, the Clie has a built in 8 MB memory and they give you a 4 MB stick which equals 14MB.
One little drawback is the on button of the Clie can be frustrating at time because of its location but oveall I would give an A++++ to it! GO for it instead of a Palm Vx!
