Well guys...really. This is the first time in my long history at MS that I haven't been able to think of a catchy enough name for my article. Really, that is the only reason for this corny lil one that you just read.
I have no idea what the title means. Just an outcrop of my split personality, you know !! Anyhow.
The DB that I do mention out here is NOT David Beckham. He is not really my favourite player ( Read my review on Man U for a great description of WHY ). THe DB that I do mention is in fact, Dennis Bergkamp. So, it so happens that I'm a pretty good liker (read the other review dammit....you'll know all the abbreviations) of the man. And alongwith that, every team that he is associated with...Holland, and Arsenal.
I think this review is gettin' a lil boring. So I'll come right down to the point now. I think soccer is really a great game for both mind as well as body. Believe me, when I started playing soccer, my stamina was really bad, I could hardly run a 400 M track at a stretch. But, two years down the line, I think my stamina has gone up tremendously. SO one fact is that playing football is quite good for your stamina. Also, the dodging part of it makes you get your balance in tune. That is extremely useful part of it. Add to that the excellent lower body excercise that you do get. But the most important thing is that soccer is essentially an intensive sport, unlike cricket. So its almost impossible to find a footballer with a potbelly.
Cutting the healthy crap, soccer is also an extremely attractive sport. Lots of fame, money and recognition is involved out there. Obviously, since its the most popular sport in the world. David Beckham has got to be the most popular sportsman of his era. I really think even a movie star would envy good old Bex for his fame. But the thing that I really dislike about soccer is that its quite out of tune with the old spirit of sportsmanship. Its an extremely demanding game, played by extremely professional and increasingly unfair players these days. A really bad tackle, timely executed could end up ruining any top player's career once and for all. A nice shoulder push (read elbow) into an opponents eye can be enough to keep him out of commission from an important game. The fact of the matter is that very little is being done to counter the increasing rowdiness that has crept into the soccer field. FIFA is responsible and accountable for what happens on the field, and its hight ime it did something.
WEll, I will end this review here. But I think it look really incomplete. So I'll probably add more to it later. But you'll have to browse deper to find it then. Do me a favour and check it out after a few days. I promise that I'll be in a better state of intelligence then, and the review will be more interesting !!!
