Anyone visited the Siddhivinayak Temple at Prabhadevi always has this grand plan of going to the Mahalaxmi Temple, Haji Ali Dargah and the Babulnath temple. I too have had such an itinerary and have followed it to the T! The last time that I was on such a sojourn, I was extremely hungry and tired by the time I reached the Babulnath Temple, the last leg of the Darshan! Just opposite Babulnath, I saw this restaurant called Soam.
I of course have seen Soam a lot of times, but have never been here. My hunger and thirst finally took me to Soam and the food there is just way too outstanding! The interiors are plain but look comfortable and cosy, fit for a family and friends. We were shown to a table in the center and soon handed menu cards. I went with a bunch of friends, so we each decided to order something different so that we get to sample all the dishes.
One friend of mine ordered a Farsan Platter, that consisted of Cheese and Spinach Samosas, Corn patties. Dhokla, Ghughra, Soam Paanki. I called for a Pav Bhaji, another friend ordered Sabudana Khichdi and one more friend called for a Ragda Pattice.
The Platter was just too mouth-watering and the most delicious thing I have ever had! The Pav Bhaji came in a copper-brass(sorry don't really know the difference) plate and come with 2 slices of bread, finely chopped onion and one rice(I am guessing) papad. The Khichdi came with a beautifully tempting Raita made of Curd, Cucumber with some sugar and again the papad. Wow! That really struck a chord of my heart! The Ragda Pattice too was awesome! Soft and melted instantly in the mouth!
To drink we called for Kala Khatta, Jal- Jeera and two Masala Chais and even the drinks were breathtakingly amazing! I really want to go back to Soam and sample some more amazing stuff that they have, but it is really difficult to manage the time to go all the way to town, but one of these days, I will definitely go there. Hope to see you there too!:)
P.S The place is a little expensive than usual joints, so just be cautioned!
