Smart Computing is a magazine that every computer user should subscribe to, whether you are an expert or a novice. It is subtitled ''In Plain English'' and with good reason. The articles and information are presented in such a way that anyone can understand, even if you aren't particularly familiar with the operating aspects of a computer.
The magazine deals with issues and trouble-shooting that most of us have, or will soon enough, encounter with our computers. One edition may have information as simple as information on chat and instant messaging, and also have information more complex such as firewalls and working with COM Ports.
The information is broken down into sections of Windows 95, 98, and ME, so you can find the information specifically for your operating system.
It deals with issues such as fixing common computer problems, understanding computer error messages, making the most of Technical Support, compatibility problems, how to get your computer to run at its utmost, and so on.
In every issue are the sections:
Technology News and Notes: This section brings you information and pricing on the very latest in internet services and products.
Find it Online: This centers around internet sites that share a particular subject matter, and gives you the run-down on each.
Q & A: This is the section that answers letters from readers concerning hardware and software, and other technical subjects.
Glossary: Provides you with computer terms and definitions that you may not be familiar with, an introduces you to new terms.
Editorial Comment: A very helpful article written by the editor of the magazine. This may be on any number of a variety of subjects.
The only downfall to this magazine is that sometimes it doesn't go into quite enough detail as to how to solve problems you may be having. For instance, it may tell you to access your internet options folder, but unless you already know how to find this folder, you won't get much use from the other information.
