Eminem - cruel, indignant, and unbelievably stupid
May 26, 2001 06:59 AM 4454 Views

Originality:

I don't own any Eminem albums, and never plan to. I remember a few years ago when this new rapper came out with a song called My Name Is. He became hugely popular with the white teenage male population practically overnight. I must admit, his lyrics made me laugh and I learned most of the words to the song. However, when his second album came out, he just turned sour.

Because of his homophobia and shovenistic ways, he began being bashed by gay rights activist as well as feminists. How could we have gone this far with peace and suddenly have this rapper plunge into the music scene with nothing nice to say. Eminem isn't your usual rapper who talks about his money, jewelry, and women. Instead, he insults anyone and everyone who comes across his path and makes him mad (if that!).

I don't believe for a second that his demeaning lyrics are all fun and games. People should take those sorts of things seriously, because they aren't meant in a joking context. I hate when anyone calls another person 'gay' or a 'fag' as an insult. It is just so disgusting. Eminem seems to have taken on this attitude like it is just his art, and that people need to lighten up. Really, Slim, aren't you the one who needs to lighten up?!

With a pounding-in-your-face single called The Way I Am, Eminem not only lashes back at his critics, but makes fun of other musicians. After a short while his still-stuck-in-puberty voice grinded on my nerves and his constant ''I'm not Mr. Nsync'' or ''let me switch chairs so I can sit next to Carson Daly and Fred Durst, and hear 'em argue over who she gave h**d to first'' was rapidly getting old.

This eventually started an all out feud between Limp Bizkit lead singer, Fred Durst, and beautifully talented Christina Aguilera. Carson Daly had to ward off rumors of a relationship between him and Christina. Is that all Eminem wants to do? Create controversy for other celebrities and insult them at the same time?! I don't care what he tells you, that he actually has no problem with gay people or is not actually violent with women, he is lying.

You know there has to be serious problems with someone whose own mother and grandmother sues him. That's just pathetic. I don't care how much pot his mom smoked when he was a kid or how much she wasn't there for him, the way he speaks of her in his lyrics is atrocious. A mother is a mother whether she's good or bad. If I were Kim, his wife, I'd probably sue him to. In his songs he practically tells his fantasies of murdering her. It seems the only family he loves is his daughter, Hailey (which is surprising!).

As a result of his poor and just-plain-wrong antics, teenage boys everywhere are following his lead. Most of the time I disagree with people who say that the media affects kids, but Eminem is the exception as far as I'm concerned. He leads my peers (males anyway) to hate women and gays, to be violent and foul-mouthed, because they see Eminem as their idol, this hugely popular guy because of what he's saying and doing. The actions and morals he portrays are, unfortunately, passing down to his listeners. They want to be like him. You must remember that these are our future fathers, husbands, teachers, co-workers, etc.

I'm actually pretty happy that Eminem has lost his book that he writes songs in, that he is delayed in creating his third album. It may sound awfully mean, but he deserves it. I'm hoping Eminem backlash starts soon. Soon enough it will be 'cool' to 'hate' Mr. Marshall Mathers. Please, oh please, rid the radio and air waves of this defiant and rather unamusing ''musician.''

To the listeners: STOP CONFUSING TRASH WITH ART!
