If u went to see a certain movie without even having a look at trailers and just saw for the heck of it, what do u expect!? ...... I was expecting mindless action ........... and it happened just like that ; the movie named SKYLINE is what I am referring to.
let me give u a detailed movie experience of mine, before u guys start raising ur eyebrows watching me give the plot ......three bars .. . three stars (whatever u may call) , after all plot is not every thing in a movie; not always!!!(in that case u had read novels only :)
the plot: its 4:45 in the morning and people start seeing aliens coming down to earth with there trademark blue lines covered in smoke, and man they r very technically well advanced than the Americans , they use a white light to actually attract humans to them; hipnotysing them to come to them mindlessly like sleepwalking ,there mission here?... to eat human minds ( u might think , why they came here to eat our brains when they r more advanced than v r) and thats is where the plot start working within few people , a couple which is pregnant , other couple who r having problem there relationship, a mindless bimbo and a guy who looks tough enough to challenge an alien.
the whole story is like a bit from independence dayand all the alien movies u got in the world , but it really succeeds at making u stay with the flow of the movie ; keeping u interested , though the movie lacks cream for what one expect from a Hollywood movie; lest not to say that even our own Bollywood film makers can not think of a movie like this one!!! can they ???
special effects: simply awesome, at one time u will forget that its a special effects kind of a movie; there r many scenes that can actually scare u a lot, for example: the big huge invasion ship sucking thousands of people from there home (they were hiding u know) to there there spaceship, taking them as there captive: those scenes where they r hipnotysed ; at this point they would really scare u cause they look like zombies after been ....... u know possessed by the light. (thats what I would like to call); and of course the last scene where the hero of the movie becomes just like aliens and starts saving his pregnant girlfriend ........ in short term...... its a total maska
cinematography ; was at its best , its really makes a huge difference at what angle u r watching the movie , and the movie's cinematographer succeeds at that, making it a real watchable movie , considering its somewhat weak plot for a sci-fi movie.
Cast performance: was more than ok..... considering the budget of the movie (i think) , Elaine (Scottie Thompson), Jarrod (Eric Balfour), Terry (Donald Faison), Candice (Brittany Daniel), Denise (Crystal Reed) and Oliver (David Zayas)... they did what they were told to do and most of them ,some how the other will make an impact on u , if u weren't paying attention, everyone (v dont have much of them here) does a very first time act .. very well, they do entertain u ...specially the main couple and the guy from the scrubs.
soundtrack: as coming to this term is more than ok ..... or u can say ........ it sets the mood ...... like in transformers ....... this movie also excells at that ........ whether the coming of aliens or the possed scene where they just cant control themselves walking towards the light ........... technical voodoo .... huh!
can I sum it up now
its a very good popcorn movie; this movie is half original and half like the other alien movies that v r now habitual to. some of the scenes deserves the credit of being original, like the scenes of total lose of control by watching the light turning them into zombie types...... scary, even I thought its a horror movie, and the way the people were abducted like vacuum cleaner and eaten, but only for there brains ,,,,,, its original ..(like matrix).... something v Indians cant do. I had 2 watch this movie second time with my friend cause it was a awesome movie for me ............ u know why ......... i left my brain at home! ....... a movie is just a movie , just dont reason with the plot ....... better than ....tees laath kha ...... sorry ...sorry .......tmk
