I did this the wrong way round. I reviewed `Chocolate Starfish' before this album. I also bought `Chocolate Starfish' before this album. I suppose that this gives me a better chance to explain how I think this album is much better than its successor.
I already had `Starfish' a long time before I bought this album. I didn't really know that it existed until I heard `Break Stuff' on MTV. I thought that this song was brilliant and that I would have to find out which album it was on. When I found out I went straight to the nearest music shop and bought this album. I put it straight on in the car and listened to it straight through. When I got home I listened to it all again, what I heard was a brilliant album. Great guitar sequences, not so good rapping from Fred Durst, and an altogether great mix of tracks.
My most favourite tracks are Nookie, Break Stuff and Re-arranged. These tracks stand out from the rest and I don't know whether I would have liked the album as much without these tracks. I'm not saying that the rest of the tracks are bad but I think that the three tracks I have pointed out do seem to influence how you look at the album.
As I have said in my review for `Starfish', I think that Linkin Park do the same job better but do not let this deter you from purchasing this album. It certainly doesn't gather dust in my cd collection, it gets played quite often.
If you are like me and you bought `Starfish' first then go out and get this, you will not be unhappy with your purchase.
