I stumbled upon Shutterfly.com while I was surfing and signed up because they were giving 50 free prints to new accounts, all you have to do is pay postage. Shutterfly is an online photo site. You can store photos in their online photo albums to share with family and friends or you can order prints of photo's that you upload to their site.
I scanned some photos with my scanner and uploaded them to Shutterfly and some were photos I took with my digital camera and uploaded to their site. I found it very easy to upload photos to their site but very time consuming. It took a very long time for the files to upload, in my opinion this was their biggest downside. You can edit your photos after you upload them to Shutterfly. You can remove red eye, put frames around your pictures and you can add text to the back of the pictures. I thought there were very good options to have and very easy to use. Some of the frames they have are very cute! I did have a problem with not being able to remove all of the red eye from a few pictures. It was very easy to order prints from their site also. Just a few clicks and I was done. The shipping was very reasonable. I believe I paid 1.49 for them to ship 50 4''x6'' pictures and they arrived in 2-3 days. The quality of the pictures was also good. I got 50 free prints for signing up and 100 free prints for referring friends. It took them a long time to credit me with the free prints for referring friends.
The 50 free prints for signing up expired Oct 16 2000 and the 100 free prints for referring friends expired in March of 2001. However, when I ordered prints they deducted them from the prints that didn't expire until March 2001 first so I had to order all the prints by the end of October 16 2000 or I would lose some of them. I did order all the free prints by Oct 16 and I will be able to use them because I am working on many scrapbook pages and could use duplicates for this but if I had not been working on this project all of these photos at once would not have been of use to me.
I feel Shutterfly has a little work to do on their site but if those few bugs get worked out it will be a worthwhile site to order photos from. **note: Ordering a 4''x6'' print from them would cost .49 if you aren't using their free promotion. You can also order a variety of other size photos.
